just installed a Pro-guard 7. Had 10k on my truck. Old air filter just about looks NEW. I cant tell MUCH if any difference in running or fuel economy. Course I do need gauges. What difference has anyone noticed? Last trip was a average 15. 4 running 70/73 mph whole trip. Just got back from Islands near Charleston S. C. to Athens GA. What speeds do SOME of you all drive these trucks with 4. 10 gears??

DP I doubt you'd see a mileage increase, what you should see is a bit of an EGT reduction especially when you start cranking the HP.

Man my stock filter was CAKED at 10,000 miles. I guess that's the difference between Georgia and the desert region of Washington State!

Mine looked NEW. My buddy just turned 30k and started to replace his and said looked OK and left it. But I have another neighbor with 100k on his transporting horses said he replaces his monthly. I noticed nothing in noise, power, fuel mileage with the AFE PRO GUARD 7. I did with the Banks exhaust from the jump street.

DPKetchum,

Did you replace the factory airbox with the Magnum Force intake or did you just replace the factory paper element with a drop in?

I think the factory airbox is pretty restrictive along with a filter that is on the small side. Therefore, even a quality drop in like the aFe will probably yield a very small gain if any.

Mine was caked thick at 8,000... . I noticed a little better mileage and lower exhaust temps with the AFE... . which also gets dirty pretty quick, but just have to wash her off and re-oil. :)

As far as the speed goes I run between 70 and 75 usually, about 2150 to 2300 rpm. Any slower on the highway is almost unsafe around here. I am looking forward to getting 19. 5" wheels and tires so I can lower my RPM at those speeds, I plan on getting 265/75/19. 5 which are 34. 3" tall. The current 265/70/17 are 31. 8" tall should reduce the rpm by about 170 in OD.

I also want some 19. 5s to lower rpm. I runs 70 to 75 and wish it didn't crank as many Rs out. NEEDS a 7th gear a real OVERDRIVE. Article was well written about the Pro Guard 7 its just I didn't really notice squat with fuel mileage or performance. I did with the exhaust change.
