Competition Get ready for new NHRA rules - Diapers!

Off Roading coil spring/shock tower brackets...

I heard on another forum that the rules for Pro Street are changing. Is this true? I was told they are going to an index of 10. 50 with any power adders and no weight restrictions? Kind of sucks going to an index, though I can understand if they do. . Safety is a major concern. . Anyone with info, please share. .

If I had known about no weight restrictions, I might have built a dmax powered car or S-10. It wouldn't have taken much cash to get something real light in the 10's. .

Don't quote me on this and I don't know if it is in stone. You are correct, there will now be an index, not sure exacly what they landed on, 10. 50 is probably close. Reason being is to get more trucks in pro street that can be competetive to help grow the class. As more trucks come on that can run the times, the index will be flexible and adjusted accordingly. In addition, there will be a quick 4 for the fastest 4 qualifiers, which will not be indexed if I'm not mistaken as qualifiying is based on fastest times, not the index. This will give the really fast trucks a place to get it done.

As for removing weight limits, this was in the interest of allowing more trucks the chance at making the index and safety. Lighter trucks are safer, and require less power to go fast which also lowers attrition = more trucks will qualify. Also keep in mind, the rest of the rules in the class remain the same which requires the vehicles to be trucks. So you won't see any camaros with D max's in that class, just lighter trucks. I sat in on this meeting in Texas, and the competitors voted on this stuff.

Are you sure cars arent allowed? Repowers have always been legal, even if the vehicle didn't originally come with a diesel. There are cars currently running Street diesel. .

I wish they would keep the registered pro street drivers more informed on what's planned for the rules. I paid my dues, though I couldn't make it to Texas. My truck was down. . A lot of money and time goes into some of these purpose built trucks. I could have built something for much less if it were lightweight. It would have also been easier to hook. Oh well, too late now. .

I'm not positive, but I thought pro street had to be a truck. I truthfully am not fully up to speed on the rules though. These things may not be official, its just what was discussed at Texas.
