Here's the story, I saw a small oil puddle under my truck on Monday, barely the size of a quarter, just enough to notice, and I am always looking cause I am paranoid about such things. Anyway, look under and sure enough there is wet oil, looks like it is dripping out of the area between the motor and transmission. Thought okay better get that taken cccare of, made an appointment to take it in next wednesday. Been driving it without any problem. Today clutch is slipping to beat the band. I am assuming with the oil leak that I have probably soaked the clutch and am going to have to replace it. Motor is still stock except for the air filter and straight piped exhaust so I shouldn't be overpowering it. I had been looking to add an edge comp and some 275 injectors, and will still do that down the raod some day. Right now the set aside money is probably gonna have to go towards this now.

My questions relate mostly to the south bend clutches. First and foremost is that they do not have any dealers or installers listed on their website for southern minnesota.

1. I do not have a lift , but we do have alot of tools here at my uncles farm, is this something I can do in his shed or am I better off having someone do it? Also they do not list any prices anywhere that I was able to find.

2. Could those of you who have gotten these clutches give me some ideas on what I will have to spend? Money is an issue as I am trying to pay for college also and don't have alot of it at the moment. My thinking is that it will probably be worth the loan to get the south bend now as eventually the power I want to add will make it necessary down the road anyway.

3. Is there any other types of clutches that could meet my needs?

4. How long were you guys waiting for parts etc. ?

5. Other than checking and replacing the seals that are leaking causing the initial oil leak and replacing the clutch and related work. Is there any other things I should be checking?

Thanks alot to anyone who can help answer these. I plan to call South Bend in the morning but would really appreciate any quick responses I can get tonight.

South bend

I put the south bend in with 3 of my friends you need lots of hands. Yes you need transmission jack and a big one at that. The south bend is the best one. IMO Spend the bucks for one and do it right the 1st time. As soon as you put the comp on it WILL slip a stock clutch. It sounds like it could be the seal that is on the shaft of transmission. Good luck Eric

Just got done talking to Andy at South Bend, he has set me up with a clutch, I feel good about this. He answered my questions and seemed really interested in making sure I got what I was expecting. Now we will wait and see what life is like after. I am really anxious now. Should have the truck back on the road by wednesday. I would still like to hear from any of you guys that might have advice on anything else I should be looking at.

But if I don't get any replies, I will at least thank you for being a part of this board and letting the word about South Bend reach me.

Have a good day!!!!
