To get some money back in my pocket I am pretty sure I am going to let go of my truck. I got a very good deal on the truck and can/need to make little money off of it and the payments have been killing me lately with work being slow etc. My question is do I sell it with the EZ and guages?? Or will those scare a non TDR person off?? I think the EZ just makes the truck driveable lol, its sooo slow with out it. The guages are on the pillar and look factory but I am afraid they will scare someone off that does not know what Boost and EGT are. TIA for any opinions

I've wondered the same thing when i think I want to let my truck go. I always knew I'd want way too much money for it ($30k for a 98 w/70k miles) so I figured I'd have to find the right person who gets easily excited to sell it to. I think it depends how fast you want to move it.

If you can sell it here at the tdr the extras will be appreciated, but your right, most people looking for a truck want the basic idiot lights and nothing else. About those payments, I know what you mean, I'm working a part time job on top of the regular one so I can keep the truck. Gets really old sometimes. Good luck dude.

Here is what I would do...

I would pull the stuff off the truck and put it up for sale. Then, after talking to an interested party feel them out and see if they seem the type or not. It it's a younger person, or a "Tim Taylor" type the extras might sweeten the deal enough to make them bite. If they seem pretty conservative, then I would not mention it and sell them to somebody else. At least you mounted your gauges on the pillar, I mounted mine where the vent used to be above the radio. If I ever want to sell mine, I really don't have a choice other than to buy a new dash bezel.

Good Luck

Sorry to here your selling it. I would do what JLinder suggest. The only problem is you probably cut up the factory pillar.

That is a tough call. I don't see how it would be any different than someone selling a powerstroke with a chip in it? Might be good to not advertise the EZ and gauges until they look at it or mention that it has a "chip" for more HP only if they ask. Explain that the gauges allow you to monitor EGT for proper turbo cool down and measure boost pressure to ensure that there are no leaks in the rubber boots. Also, boost gauge allows you to monitor engine performance.

It's not like you're running a PE comp and DD3 injectors. You have a very "mild" upgrade.

Good luck.

I sold my truck the same way. i just waited to see who the buyer was each time and "felt them out".

i did leave the guages in on any of the deals, just becuase they were not worth the trouble to pull back out. i wound up trading the truck, but without any of the goodies. (PM3, ported head, Bully dog 4's, K&N RE0880 and pusher pump and braided lines) the SB con FE had to stay in though. man, somebody got them a nice clutch out of that deal. it had about 1000 miles on it.

i miss my last truck, this thing is a slug right now. junk stock transmission and a list of work so long i dont know when i'll get it replaced!!

When I traded in....

... the DTT upgrades, exhaust, and gauges stayed with the truck. The rest of the hop-up items were sold to fellow TDR members that wanted and knew what the horsepower/fuel mileage and driveability benefits were. The average buyer won't have a clue about the who, what, when, where or why of different power level extrude honed injectors for instance.
