Started the truck this morning and immediatley the idle was really rough, like you were stepping on and off the accelerator REALLY BAD. I gave it gas and it smoothed out a bit. Put it in reverse and the same thing happened again and then the check engine light came on. I shutdown and popped the hood and disconnected the EZ then started it back up and now its fine. Just drove 30 miles to work and the truck sounds and feels fine. The check engine light is still on however. I am guessing the EZ went bad being that as soon as i removed it the truck was fine minus the Check engine light being on. Anybody had anything like this happen?. There were no symptoms at all before hand.

I put the EZ in at about 10k miles and this is the first problem of any kind i have had with the truck. Aside from the Scotty, EZ and 4" exhaust, the engine and transmission are stock, no injectors or anything else.

How do i retrieve the codes from the odometer?. I cant remember the trick with stepping on the accelerator a few times, etc, HELP!

Oh, and when i strted the truck this morning, the odometer is at 36,02. 00 (no joke) Great timing for a problem, is'nt it.

emd , cycle the key quickly 3 times , letting the dash light up briefly them back off each time , on the thrid time leave the key in the on position , then read the odometer , that will give the codes , when its done , it will say done .

still got that hi idler on there ???

Thanks for Responding Mopar and yes, i still have the High Idler hooked up.

OK, here are the codes:

P PCU

P ECU

P 1689

P 1693

P 0500

After it spit those out it said "Done" Please tell me this is something simple and not expensive. :(

P 1689 -- No communication between ECM and injection pump module

P 1693 -- DTC detected in companion module

P 0500 -- No vehicle speed sensor signal

Sounds like your EZ temporarily clobbered the CAN network. You might try re-connecting it to see if it happens again.

Good Luck!

Thank you VERY much Emjay. So what you think is i should'nt worry about it as long as the truck SEEMS to be running fine?

Also, how do i reset the check engine light?

to clear the codes and light, pull the three plugs behind the air box on the firewall. It is easier than waiting for them to resolve themselves. In the case of the EZ, about a year ago alot of guys were putting diaelectric grease on the map sensor connections. It seemed to help all of the same issues you have, hope this helps.

The check engine light has since gone out and everthing now seems fine. I miss me EZ!!!!. Should i try and redonnect it? or do i risk doing damage?, is there a way to send it back to have it repaired??

I hesitate to advise you to try reconnecting it, but if it were me, I would. The CAN bus is pretty tolerant when it comes to shorts and stuff like that. If it's a communication problem, it is not likely to burn up anything. The first thing I'd do is contact Edge products and get their advice, after all, they designed it.

Greg Boardman's got it right -- the easiest way to reset codes is unplug the PCM, rather than disconnecting the battery.

I can sympathize with you, I've got one of those EZ's, and I'd hate to be without it. :{
