I just finished installing a Banks exhaust brake on a 02', 6 speed, 4x4.

The E brake works flawlessly. The problem is that it set a code and a the check engine light is on. The codes are 1693, P0501.

Has anyone else experienced this problem . I won't be able to call Banks untill wednsday, so any help or advice would be appreciated :{

Thanks :D :D

David

To much fun !!!

P0501 Vehicle Speed Sensor A Range/Performance that is the generic description of that code

this is what i could find on the other code

41TE, 42LE

Code P1693

The Definition for Code P1693 is Companion Module Failure. It is necessary to check all

other modules for codes or failures. This is NOT the same as code 45 TCM. Most publications

DO NOT list this code or list the wrong definition. It is not uncommon for technicians

to replace the TCM when, in fact, it’s usually a problem with the PCM.

did you tap any common refrence voltages? maybe at the map? i havent installed any of these so im not sure what they tap into.

On the Dodge Ram with the Cummins, PCU - P1693 is a companion code, and all it means is that there has been a code set in the ECU, Nothing more, no reflash, no reprograming, no software update needed, and unless the other code is ECM/PCM (ECU/PCU) related, there is no failure with the PCM (PCU)
