Some of you may recall from my last post "Truck Won't Start... ... Sometimes" Well, it's fixed. After 5 dasy and a new ECM I'm up and running, and running quite well I might add. The dealer treated me real good, while it was in and once the new ECM was in I had them do teh cold weather start-up update for me. Now the truck is running better than ever. Last night I got my best economy ever. ran right at 20mpg. On a 60 mile stretch that is hills and small towns. I'm happy with it!! Not sure if it was all my new ECM, I also tried a fuel addative from Stanadyne. I've been told it some pretty good stuff. I figure I'll run a bottle of it every 1000 miles or so to kepp everything cleaned out. That pretty much equates to a 1/2 a bottle per fill-up. Anyone else have any experience with Stanadyne? Would like to hear other's thoughts.

Stanadine

I have used Stanadine in every Dodge Cummins I have had (three to date) I swear by the stuff. To the best of knowledge it is the only fuel additive that Cummins recomends. Works for me.

ECM $$$$

How much? FREE!!!!Oo. Covered under warranty. It had been acting up since the truck was a month old, and slowly got worse. So, it was covered. Granted I only have 7800miles on it. As far as one out of warranty..... I can only imagine.

They didn't give you the cost of the parts even though you didn't pay. I would think you would still have to sign an invoice for them to charge back to the factory.

They didn't give you a clue about the cost???

I probably don't want to know...

Cost

Just called the dealer, he didn't have the exact numbers in front of him but estimated an ECM @ $500+ Glad I had warranty. I did see that there is an ECM floating around out there in another post. Might want to check on that.

Thanks for putting out the extra effort. I hope I don't have to get one. I think by replacing the Fuel System Relay, my problem has disappeared so far. I just hope I didn't band aid a more serious problem, like an ECM.

Thanks once again and I saw that post about the used one. I'll see if I can dig it up, just in case.

20 MPG! Sigh, my best so far is 13. 4 mpg. I think the problem might be with my right foot though, I really don't know. Maybe just needs more time to break in. :(

P. S. re Stanadyne - Have you read the Amalgamated Diesel Additive Ordering Info thread? Interesting.
