Problem with 2003 Neon auto trans

My daughters 2003 Dodge neon stranded her the other night. Wouldn't move in any gear. I got there and I could get it to start to move but as soon as it went to shift out 1st it would lose all gears until it was shut down and restarted. I got it home by manually shifting into 1st and not letting it shift. I tried it this morning and cant get anything other than light engagement into gear and an odd noise from the engine compartment if not in park or neutral. Have codes P0720, P0562, P1790, P0218, P0944, P0732, and a few relating to the emission system. This happened before and I changed filter/fluid and has been fine for the last 6 months, there was a more material in the pan than I wanted to see, but I figured to give it a try anyway. have not pulled the pan yet this time, just had rotator cuff surgery and cant do anything right now. Anyone think that it might be something other than a major internal failure?
