Hello

I'm on are Trip around the Baltic Sea (North of Europe).

I got a Problem with the Brakelights on my Truck.

The Brakelights are always ON when the Trucks Light is switched ON, even with Parking Light and Key OFF.

But with the Lights OFF the Brakelight works complete normally as desired.

Checked the Fuses for the Rear Lights, they are Fine, No Codes to find with AutoEnginuity.

Hopefully someone has an idea, the following Traffic isn't very happy with me.

Thanks in advance.

I take it you are talking about headlights being on. At first thought it would be that parking light and brake lights are grouding out on each other(lost gound to rear lights) but it could be your brake light switch or mulit-function switch. It could be your light switch, don't know how third generations are wired.

Is the third brake light also on? Another possibility would be that one of the taillights has a broken element in the bulb and it is touching the brake light element. Try pulling the bulbs one at a time and see if it goes away.

THIS ^^^^^^^, plus pinched wire harness near the light assembly, and bad ground near the assembly.

Caused me more fits than I care to remember hunting electrical shorts. It's now step one anytime it occurs.

Ozzy,

Does your truck have North American lights and wiring or has it been altered to meet the specs for your country???

Mike.

Hello

It is a changed assembly, like the cargobox in USA.

But I find out the problem - it's the corroded trailer tow connector that makes this weird behavior on my Truck.

Thanks for the help you all gave so fast - Great Forum.

Glad that you found it, I had started to ask if you had checked the trailer plug as I see the road chemicals build up in there under the cover, corrode and cause electrical cross connections.

Then I got to pondering that your electrical system might a little different so I changed the question. Overthinking the problem....:D

Mike.

Would have been good to know about the trailer in the first post.

Glad you got it figured out and are moving again.

Sorry that I did not mention it.
I don't tow actually a trailer, it's only the connector mounted.
I'll post a pici of it when I'm home, was ekkk inside, wouldn't touch something if not necessary.

Wow, that's a lot of crud buildup in an empty trailer plug socket to cause that kind of problem. Now if you had an adapter plugged in I can see that.

I own you all the pics of the disaster.

Frontside of the Connector - not to bad.

Rearside of the Connector - very bad.
