I just picked up my 3500 4x4 Quad Cab SLT Laramie from dealer.

When I put my order in I told the salesman I wanted the Heated seats option wich I thought was a option for $120, but the sales man told me the heated seats where std with the laramie package. But the problem is my truck came without heated seats,it does have 8 way power. The manager showed me the in options book code v4 or something, the book says this option is heated seats without 8 way power. that is the option he ordered and it came with 8 way power no heated seats. Anyone know what is going on? Who Made the mistake the dealer or Dodge? And what can I do now? Also I noticed when I got home, the passinger seat leather has a two inch crese in it and the leather is streched a bit. Looks like a heavy object was setting on the seat, and slightly deformed it. Its not to bad, but its not right. So what should I do? I can live with it all if they give me some cash back ($2000) Or a sprayed in bed liner, or someother deal.

What do you all think? Any info will be great. thanks

Larry

Sounds like the dealer made the mistake. The order code for heated seats is CMA. Since you took delivery of it, I think your options are limited. If you hadn't taken delivery you could have refused the vehicle and made them order a new one, or negoitated a deal on the one you have. I would definately go to the dealer and talk to the Manager about this and maybe they will give you a spray-in or something else.

I agree, the dealer messed up here. It is prudent when ordering a new truck to request a copy of the order printout when the dealer submits the order. This will include not only all the options that went into the order to DC but the VON (Vehicle Order Number) that you can use to start tracking your vehicle. The VIN is assigned once the truck is scheduled. This way you can check to be sure everything you ordered is in their system. All it takes is a clerical error to turn your dream truck into something you will not be happy with. While one does tend to get "buck fever" when that shiney new truck arrives, these issues are best dealt with before you hand over the check. FWIW

Heated Seats are NOT included with the Laramie Package. They must be ordered seperately for $140. 00. I just checked this on www.4adodge.com

As mentioned above since you've taken delivery of your truck you may have a hard time in getting satisfactory results. If your salesman is a good guy and tells the manager his mistake you make get something from them. Your salesmans actions from this point should indicate to you weather or not to buy from him again. Here is my opinion, I would go in and have a chat with the sales manager and politely point out they messed up on the order by entering the wrong code on the order sheet. After all you specifically said you wanted the heated seat option (and paid extra $$$ for that option), they "verified" the heated seat option code, but appearently did not know how to read thier own code book. Now I know we can never trust a salesman to know what they are talking about, especially when when it comes to the specifics of custom building a truck. But I would point out you (the customer) put a certain amount of trust in that the sales dept knows what they are doing, after all selling and placing orders for these trucks is thier day to day job. How are you to know the code was the wrong one, even after they specifically "verifiy" it for you in the code book???? I would point out you ordered the truck under the believe it had heated seats and until you have bun warmers in your truck you will not be happy or satisfied with the sale. A good dealer should owe up to it's mistake and get you the heated seats, an O. K. dealer will try and make some sort of deal (like a cheesy free oil changes offer), and a bad delaer will tell you to go pound sand. You need to decide what will be an acceptable outcome then be assertive on the issue and don't accept anything less than what you view as an acceptable resolution to the matter.

Now the flip side to this is like all mentioned above, since you already accepted delivery and paid them thier money the dealer is most likely in no way obligated to do anything for you. If the dealer is concerned about your satisfaction of the sale they should be willing to try and do whatever it takes to make you happy.

Thank you all for the info, I may come out with a better deal in the end anyway. my salesman all Reade mentioned a spray in liner from COMBAT COATINGS. And maybe the heated seats are not that important, for now I live in Eastern North Carolina its not to cold but I would like to move farther north . Anyway every thing else with the truck is great. Its the first vehicle I have bought in 17 years, my 86 F-150 has seen its better days.

How come my signature is not showing at the bottom of the screen? TDR is a great sight I would be ignorant with out it.

Thanks now I think Its time to ride'''

Am I the only one that thought the heated seats should be included in the laramie package? If you just picked up your truck you might not have noted the time it takes to warm up as much as if you had had it all winter. Mine takes a good 15 minutes before much of anything resembling heat is getting pumped out. Those heated seats sure help take up the slack in that regard. I have been considering an exhaust brake just to improve the warmup time. Anyhow I read a post where another fellow thought the heated seats came with the Laramie. Having learned of his mistake at delivery he said that he was able to get the parts and install it later. The heating portion is nothing more than a thin piece of plastic that fits in between the leather and the cushion. I recall him saying that some of the wiring was already there.

I believe heated leather was included in the SLT+ package prior to 2003. The heat was definitely an option available only in the Laramie package so one did have to specify that they wanted heated seats when ordering a 2003. While one would like to think that sales staff know all about what they are selling, the simple fact is most do not have an intimate knowlege of each and every vehicle they sell. And I am not sure that it is reasonable to expect them to know. It therefore behooves the consumer to do their homework BEFORE walking onto the lot. And these days with the TDR and other websites with lots of information, the homework is now the easy part. I would expect however that the sales staff should know how to read the order book, but as was stated earlier in the thread, that just doesn't happen.

When I got my truck the power seats were part of the Laramie package. Unless that has changed since November, I do not understand what you paid 120 bucks for. I think the dealer should be able to put the heated seats in for you and if that seat does not straighten out, it should be replaced as well.

Steve, I recently ordered my new truck, just wondering what you paid for your sport billet grill. I really like the look, so I ordered it also, my salesman informed me it is not a factory option, but can be added on by dealer for a charge of 425. (installed) I thought this was a little steep, but ordered it anyway. Thanks, Marty

Marty,

They tried to charge me the same too. They were quoting me the price for the whole grill. I went to parts dept. and told them I wanted Part #82207849 and it's the billet only. I think the list price was 99. 00 and they installed for free. There are some threads on this, and you might want to do a search to double check the part number.
