marine conversion ?

My biggest problem yet unsolved (correctly) is the speedo. I am using a late model NV4500 with no speedo drive.



Has anyone else run into this??





I have resorted to, get this, a bicycle spedometer. Cost $15 at the bike shop. I just mounted the pickup next to the driveline so it will pick up the existing magnet for my aftermarket cruise control. I had to calculate the wheel circ along with the rear diff ratio to get the right number to key in. Works great except you can't see it at night, no light. I has resetable trip (m&K), accum dist, speed mph/kph, time, ET, date, and shows dist to . 01mi.



I am planning on a USGear OD so I can then use the speedo drive off that. I may even keep the bike speedo because it has so many useful features.

Larry if you want to spend more money there are even better bicycle odos to be had. You can get top speed, average speed and even heart rate for a few dollars more. There are even wireless ones. I used a bike odo on my spray tractor where ground speed was important for proper calibration, hard to find an odo that measures in . 1 increments under 3 mph unless you pay $500+ for one made for sprayers. You know me, I'm cheap. To calibrate all you need to do is measure the inches the tire moves for one revolution of the magnet, they are very accurate.
 
Convert it to 4wd and drive it off the t-case. :D



Try Advance Adapters. They do a lot of NV4500 swap stuff, in fact they have a whole conversion book on them.
