I will have to wait until I get home to do anything to the photos. I have found an outlet for them and don't want to jeopardize that in any way. Have some dandy pix's

Wayne we left home at 1AM and went to a pass in the mountains on the way to the Park. I have been to the same pass several times with our spiritual leader in our Tribe, he is a retired Pastor from our Church in town and is one of the best people on the planet. He and I have become best friends and his guidance has STOPPED ME from choking the living crap out of a few that were in need of a good choking. :-laf

We got ready for the sunrise show and were outside when it happened drinking coffee, it was such a spectacular show that nobody thought to get the camera. Sorry!!!

Most days myself and my NEW best Pard, a young man that is staying with Penny and I while his Father a Marine that's one of Americas finest his rehabbing with BOTH of his legs gone, something that I know half of what he's going thru. We get up at 2am and get something to eat and coffee for me and coco for him. We are off to one of the LARGE VALLEYS to spot game. He is such a great young man no problems with him getting up that early he is 10 years old we drive to the spot and set up our spotting scopes and wait for the show, we have seen a Many Buffalo, Grizz, Elk and deer that a Park Ranger said wouldn't be around this early in the year but we went camera hunting and found both with not much of a problem. I have practiced my tracking skills and hope that I have passed on some of the knowledge that was a gift from my Wife's Grandfather to me. He is a quick study and will be a fine person in what ever he wants to do in life. We could tell that the Elk that wasn't supposed to be there :-laf had a pretty good rack growing by the depth of the front tracks of the hooves. When we took the picture Danny was so happy that he started to giggle and the Elk looked our way and got spooked, a lesson learned for him. The Deer were on a hike that the family went on Danny and I were on point doing a spot and stalk type thing like hunting only with a camera, he found the deer and took his time sitting up a shot and got a few #guess he learned something from the first trip ;))

Nora and her soon to be Husband brought Danny's Father down to the park so they could spend some time together, They wanted to give a try at fly fishing so after a hour of nothing they were kind of disappointed, But that's fishing I looked around and found what the fish were hitting on and got some superglue from the car and glued a bug on the hook and said give that a try. I cant see that the state of WY would say to much about using a less than scrupulous bait in this situation would you? :-laf The fish didn't even let the bug hit the water and smiles were BIG AS EVER :D Penny said if that don't give you a tear in your eye your not human, a 17 in fish is something that both of them will enjoy for a VERY LONG TIME. Danny said to put a picture of the bug on for ya. :-laf

We went to see most all of the thermal attractions that were wheel chair accessible until Danny's Father had to leave for some more rehab. Danny was good with what was going on for his Father, I cant imagine what it must be like for his Father. I went thru this without anyone to worry about and it almost killed me, but to have a Son!!!! well he's more of a man than I could ever hope to be.

We attend the Ranger Programs in the evening if we get back in time from our PM game spotting. We eat dinner with the group of folks that drove out from Kentucky to spend their vacation with us at the group campground. Have a sing around that almost everyone in the Bridge Bay Campground attends, something like close to 400 hundred camp sites even the Park Rangers came and had a go at singing some are pretty darn good ;) It makes a person feel good that even strangers can FIND SOMETHING TO GATHER AROUND and be JUST A PERSON for a change, no membership REQUIRED Oo.

I will try to reduce the pic size and hope it works. We have had a GREAT TIME so far and have a week and a half left to go. We moved to a new spot in the park and got to fire up the satellite link for the internet so we can send some pictures of Danny to his father. Penny's father let us use his Bus Motor home for the trip, let me say that if you have never tried camping in a Prevost Motor home its like no other for sure. The only thing that I find wrong is that the storage tanks are a bit small but a 40ft motor home is not made for this type of camping. The water tank, Gray tank, Black tank are small but the only tank that is large is the 275 gal FUEL TANK. Power is from a 650 HP Cummins with a 6 speed auto it gets around 5. 5 on our trip but we are on a 2 lane road and not many straight stretches but I still think that's pretty good. FIL said it gets around 7 MPG when they go to FL for the winter but he's going at least 80 MPH. I rode with him driving one time he asked what's wrong Big don't like speed? Its ok when im doing the driving.

Hey BIG, sounds like your having a great time. Good for you. Isn't that picture of the car one that they give tours in?

I bet you could sell that Shepard's pie to an unsuspecting tourist and make a good penny :-laf

Thanks for sharing, BIG. I'm sure you're making quite an impression on that young man. Is that one of the famous Yellowstone tour buses?

Getting ready to hit the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone today the South side. For some water fall action and a 4mile hike (with lots of other people ill bet) but hopes to be a spectacular day. Penny and her sister were having a good time with the folks that came up from Kentucky to spend time with us on vacation, Penny writes for a website (yes she can spell better than me) that most of these gals scribe to about living like we do, seems that we aren't the only ones that have this affliction. The beniffet of this is the food is not to be believed. That will stop soon as they have to head back to Kentucky and will take the Shine with them, except for the jugs that they have left for my BIL and I when we get home. Fun names that they have for the shine that is pretty tastey but very potent. Strawberry Sissy, Peach-e Peach, Crazy Raisin, Cherry Fairy and my favorite said to make you Plum-dumb with only 2 shots and a beer chaser. 3 of the Guys work at the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky, guess they know what they are doing Great Group of folks.

Yes it is the cars of Yellowstone tour bus lines. They also have some Vintage bus's that are like to Old Grayhound type with all the stainless steel sides. The car looks the same as the ones in Glacier Nat Park but not sure if they are the same I have pictures of both the Yellowstone has a placard on them that say's * White * don't know if its the same company that made the Big Trucks back in the day or not but they do look the same. The red ones are from Glacier Nat Park that I have in files on computer and the yellow is the Yellowstone cars, funny I just noticed that it has MT plates on this one at least????

It was done for me in Maine from a man and his family in Mars Hill Maine, Rusty Boyd helped me out when I had a problem with going on, Payback time!!!! but we do love the little man he's left a big impression on our entire family. Just hope he still wants us as friends when we get back home after this trip and he's got to go to school. MIL/FIL have got him singed up in our schools at home.

Cant forget Mr JHawes request :D

Did some reading before we went *(I can read but need lots of pictures to help with the bigger words) The different colors are the different types of algae or micro organisms the picture book calls them. The orange and yellow are the hottest water that they can live in the brown and beige are the cooler water temps and the clear or aqua blue is the hottest that none live in.

That's it. I'm taking the family back there again summer of 2014. Our 2 weeks there in 2011 just wasn't enough.

I was really impressed with how much has grown since the fires. Other than a small portion of the eastern side and the moose population (hopefully there number will come back) the entire park is back to its old self.

I was there the year before and the season after the fires; it was awful to see the park burnt down to the size of toothpicks.

The fire damage is still visible in LOTS of the park, im sure that you understand that fire is not as bad as once thought. Yes it looks bad but helps the undergrowth get a new hold on going and in turn helps out the park. We went to the West entrance the other day we had never been in that way, you could tell that massive fires had gone on but the new forest looks as green and healthy as it could be, the trees are almost all the same height and LOTS of dead falls.

NO Moose Danny and I have been keeping track of the animals that we have spotted and are looking for moose, in the next day or two we are going to take a hike at the North entrance that the Park Rangers said would have the best chance of moose spotting but not to get our hopes up there's not many around , I pointed out to Danny that the Park Ranger said that not a very good chance of seeing Deer and Elk this low in the park that they would be high in the mountains to beat the heat, but we didn't have a problem to find them.

Today was an easy hike we like to start early to beat the people and there were LOTS OF THEM later on the hike, the best part is that most drive from parking lot to parking lot and leave the rest of the trail to the ones that hike. There are lots of places to get great pictures and have lunch at the side of the canyon with nobody around.

The stairs on the South side of the Canyon were a little tough over 300 stairs and lots of straight up and down, with all the barn building and home renovations at home I could sure tell that my aerobics workouts have been missed my legs were on fire. The rest of the hike was not bad total both sides was like 11miles another great day. I was reading (there I go again :D) at a lunch break that on the falls an average of 37,400 GAL of water goes over the falls EVERY SECOND!!!!! more druing peak runoff at 65,000 gals per second.

Whenever Ive seen moose there, it seems like it is usually on the west side. I forget now if it is just north or south of Norris. Its where there is a narrow tree belt next to the road, with a wide stretch with a lot of marsh and a "river" with some hills on the other side. Im sure you know where Im talking about.

If you haven't been there yet, over by the grand canyon of the yellowstone, I think the spot might be called the upper falls and the lower falls. (lookout on the west side of the river). If you walk down the steep stairs to the lowest waterfall, you are right at the top of the waterfall. It is so refreshing, it makes you want to jump right in :)o) If you look to the right, it is really cool to see the river coming down thru the rocks and around the bend. If it is hot, it seems like it is quite a bit cooler down there too.
