A friend of mine called me this afternoon and said he was having problems with his truck cutting out on him going down the interstate @ about 80mph. Only happened once, but he said it did it for quite a while.

Truck is a 3500 DRW 4x4 6spd HO. He installed a Edge EZ last night before he left for an out of town trip today. The stumbling happened while on his trip and he's wondering what's going on. He also said it tripped his check engine light.

I'm not not very knowledgeable when it comes to 3rd Gen's so I need a little help in helping him.

Called a friend of mine in Lex. KY that has an 03 with the Edge EZ and he says to the best of his knowledge that there is not a "EZ" out for the Cummins 600 yet, is this correct?

After talking with the friend in KY I called my buddy back with the 600 and told him to unhook the box and drive the rest of the weekend without it and then call Edge first thing on Monday and make sure he got the right box.

Any other info you guys can share would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

Look at the sticker on the box.

I have one of the 600 Beta boxes that was released a few weeks ago.

If he has a box that was built earlier, he has the wrong box. I have not had any problems with my 600 beta box.

Pull the EZ off! its causing the stumbling and the check engine light is because the fuel rail pressure is to high! They will make power on the 600, but this is the outcome, stubling jerky power. wait till the new 600 EZ boxes are out.

I told him to unhook the box and drive without it for the rest of the weekend, including his trip home. Hope he listen's. I am begining to think he's got a 555 box. :(

I'm going to order a '05 in November and want to to put a box on it. I'e been reading this forum for a while, I don't remember any one saying anything about how to erase the codes. Do you have to start the engine a certain number of times to do that? Or is there another way?

He gave me these #'s off of his box "EZD1000C " So I'm pretty sure he has the wrong box. He drove home without it this weekend, and said the check engine light went off.

I still need someone to tell me how to reset codes on a 04. 5 before he takes it to the dealer if he ends up having too. He's taking the box back to the guy he got it from. Guy claimed "that's the only box I have for those trucks" so we both think he got a 03-04 box and not an 04. 5 box.

Thanks for the help, now if someone can just shed some light on resetting those codes  ;)

I am not the wiz at OBDII, but I think that is what our trucks use.

I have heard of others going to AutoZone, and having them clear the codes, I think it may even be free. I think AutoZone is offering code reads as a gimmick to sell parts.

He defiantly has the wrong box, he will have a grin from ear to ear when he gets the correct box.

You need a OBDII code reader, which you can by for less than 50. 00 at most parts stores. You plug it in and there will be an option to read codes and clear codes.
