My buddy (kansascummins on here) was doing his front diff when he looked over and noticed that that the inside of the tire carcass on his OEM Goodyear's on his 03 dually was seperating at the bead. He ended up pulling all 6 and found them all doing this to varying degrees, he could two fingers up between the bead and the tire carcass.

He called his dad who ordered the same truck at the same time (only one VIN number off, kind of cool) and they pulled his wheels. One of them had a seperation approximately one half way around the entire tire.

12 tires later they are talking with Goodyear about this situation.

However if you have a dually with the factory Goodyear rubber you might want to take a look at the inside edge of the tire at the bead.

I had this problem with my 05 a year an a half ago..... they covered all of them for me... but mine was hair line cracks down to the cord material within 2 " of the bead around the tire... . The only problem back than was finding 6 in town to change out... .

I gave up with the BADYEARS as they are heavy and junk and CRACK ( so much for safety huh? :--) )... . I went with FirestonesTransforce... MS on the rear and ribbed on the front... . still E rated and rides SOOO much better (see photos of my truck and find new wheels and tires... the pictures arent all that great but you can see what your getting first hand). . my truck doesent jump all over when crossing rail road tracks anymore... that annoyed the heck out of me cuz you feel that the tiers were so heavy and also not so round... . my mirror doesnt shake anymore... i only had 22k when I replaced the first set of good years and then in 12 month and a few thousand miles they ALL cracked again... i use this truck rarely so the sun gets to them but STILL... . not like these cracks... right down to the cord at the wheel lip... ( no weight would ever be heavy there right??? very dangerous!!!... . the dealer was going to warranty them again so i asked for him to apply what he could towards the firestones... apliied all but labor which I think was cool (for once)... anyway just a thought to look into

my two cents

Goodyear replaced mine at 4,000 miles with cracks in the sidewalls at no charge and replaced them again at 10,000 miles at which time I gave up on Goodyear and made a deal on Buckshots. Now at 40,000 with no problems. I probably screwed up and could have just had the tires replaced every 5,000 miles instead of rotating them for the life of the truck. ;)

Goodyear garbage

Mine cracked on the inside only, right around the wheel, (fronts the worst). Always ran 75+ psi in the fronts. Truck has 30K miles and I put 6 new michelins on it last week. Indy threw Goodyear out for a reason, EH? I'll never buy another Goodyear product as long as I live... ... .

Do a search on the subject!! Plenty of fine writing on the matter, after 2 sets in 100k, I got smart and went with Michelin LTX/MS's. Have 50k hard *** miles on them in 7 months and they still look like they just went on, most of that 50k with heavy towing also. Way harder miles then the GY POS ever saw!

Yep..... I've got 32K on my 03, they are starting to crack. My folks replaced the tires on their 03 at 50K, one was really bad. I'll be putting Michelins on mine in the spring. It will just be hibernating in my shop all winter.

I just got rid of my good year tires a couple weeks ago. The outside of the front tires and the outermost rear tires was just small cracks around the inch of tire around the rim.

But when we took them off the 2 front ones had really opened up, kind of surprised I never had a problem with them.

I bought my truck in feb. and I would guess these were the original goodyears from when it was new. They still had some tread above the tread wear markers at 70k but I replaced them and if I had actually looked at the front ones closer I would have replaced them way sooner.
