Over GVWR? Slow Down

I'm putting in a Prodigy brake controller and was wondering if it's a plug and go. I have the trailer tow package so all I have to do is find the brake controller plug in the cab. There is of course Murphy's Law which is why I ask about the Prodigy wiring set up.

This whole thing is a last minute deal thanks to a new truck and the fact we sold the RV so quickly coupled with the fact we found a great trailer at a great price. I need to get this in so I can pick up the trailer tomorrow. I haven't done anything yet and I got a headache... :{

Thanks in advance...

For the most part they are plug and go. You can get an adapter to go from the stock wiring harness to the prodigy plug so you won't have to splice any wires. :) The Prodigy comes with a 'quick-overview' worksheet if I'm not mistaken. Basically all you have to do is set the volts on the Prodigy to where the trailer brakes just start to lock up and it does the rest. There are many other features with the Prodigy as well, but you'll have to read a little more in-depth to find out that info. Hope this helps. Happy towing :)

you might have a little problem finding the Dodge connector to plug the Prodigy's wire into. On my 03 it is above the clutch pedal (about halfway from the steering column to the parking brake) and on the UPPER side of another larger connector. Almost like they were trying to hide it. I stuck mine in the cubbyhole under the heater controls so it is easy to grab when you need max trailer brakes in a hurry. Only problem was that you need to elevate the control/display end very slightly. The docs that come with it advise what angles are acceptable. . Great controller, by the way...

Thanks fellas. Bang for the buck and the trailer I'll be pullin', I figure the Prodigy is a good buy. I saw a brake controller mounted in the cubby hole, that's a good idea and it's out of the way although I love my cubby holes. I can't drive with anything in my pockets, kinda weird, so I throw everything in the cubby holes. I'll go to NAPA and see if they have the adapter plug too...
