Nobody can tell you how to set the brake controller over the internet. It is based on how the rig stops not on some formula based on wieght and trailer type. Condition of the trailer brakes and the conditions are the things to consider.

Hook it up, find a safe place to test it a little. Make a few stops and make adjustments until it fells right. Too much gain and you will feel it jerk the truck on application. Too little and the rear of the truck will rise on heavy braking. Then there are the boost settings. I use setting 2 for my 3-horse gooseneck because I know I need to get under there and adjust the brakes. I use three when I have the triple axle gooseneck fully loaded to 20k lbs and turn it way down when that trailer is empty to keep from flat spotting tires.

The answer is, YOU need to set it based on YOUR circumstances, there is no set way to do it.

I believe you push on the brake pedal with the truck running and trailer hooked up. Move the lever all the way over. Turn the knob until it says 6 or 7 (can't remember). Then, on a flat area like an empty parking lot, get up to 20-25 mph and stop. If it locks up, turn the number down. I usually push the button to be set on 2, 3 if I'm in the mountains. I like to feel the trailer brakes just a little before the truck brakes. Try Tekonsha's web site if you misplaced the directions, they may have them online.

BHolm is correct. Each application is different. The instruction sheet that comes with the Prodigy control will get you started. The rest has to be fine tuned to your rig.
