Which Firestone air bags?

Update on Forest River Toy Hauler debacle F40SPTS

I know if you have the tow package, you can just plug it in. Mine didnt come with the tow package. I'll have to run a wire back, no biggie. My question is, might I have the plug with hot and ground, just no brake wire, under the dash already? I don't want to order the wiring kit and just hunt for a plug.

I've got so many wires pulled through the firewall already if I can avoid doing one more I'd really like to.

If there's no connection run a fused hot and a ground directly from the battery. 12Ga should be good but check the instructions. I would not connect a brake controller to the fuse panel or ground to the body (just in case)

I added a factory tow plug to my 96 but had to run the power from the battery.

Well I know I am not helping when I say this but to keep your options open for the future you could alway run a wire under the firewall or drill another hole and groment it. But since it sounds like you have enough running through the firewall when will you consider installing a power distribution box behind or under the dash. I am sure if I took my truck apart I could find plenty of places back there close to the bottom of the back of the dash. best of luck.

Oh, I'll drill more holes if I need to :) Too bad the auto manufacturers don't just install a dozen extra wires from the factory you could just use for whatever you needed. Be great for those of us who just have some compulsion to install every light, component or whatever uses electricity known to man in our trucks.

But as much as I personally wouldn't understand it, I bet its well over 50% of the owners that never install a single accessory.

I think the painless stuff is overpriced, but yes, another fuse block for accessories is definitely a good idea. The problem lies with how these projects come along over a period of time. The first one is no big deal running it through the firewall. Finally a couple years later with dozens of wires running around, you finally realize an accessory fuse block would have been the way to go. Is it too late to add one and rewire all the stuff I"ve added on? Thats the question I'm debating now.

Hey there a great solution to everyones wiring needs. I'll be the one to spoil the secret.

Waytek inc. has a great supply of the stuff that alot of the performance compaines buy their wiring supplies from. go to their website at waytekwire.com I found their website while i was try to look for a new connector for my factory FCM on my dodge. I found a link to order their catalog. Since I am into wiring stuff on my truck and I am picky about how I do it I am glad I ordered their catalog for free. It simply has just about everything I need. the only thing I need to find is where I can get factory connectors for my truck for cheaper than buying whole wiring harness just for the connector. But anyways I hope this helps yal out there wiring up stuff for your trucks.

Waytek is good. I also get a lot of my wiring supplies from McMaster-Carr. Good selection, not overpriced and they ship fast.

Just an update. Got the wiring harness today. It did plug right in. Too late for me to check and see if theres actually a brake wire ran to the back. I'm betting there is and all they do on these trucks is leave off the plug (four pin is already there).
