Well I got my PE-4200 installed and my first impressions are very positive. The pump shows a solid 16 psi at idle and during WOT my fuel pressure only drops to 14 psi. With the Mallory 4140M which was installed prior to this the fuel pressure was set to 16 psi idle but the pressure would drop to 8 psi or so during WOT. The Mallory pump lasted about 9 months and 11K miles.

The pump appears to be of very high quality and it comes with a 2 year guarantee! But as Bigsaint says we will need to wait and see if this is the true solution to our lift pump woes. I purchased the pump from Advanced Diesel Technology, Andy was great and had the pump to me in 2 days so I could get my truck ready for the races at MIR (which were rained out and are rescheduled for Oct. 27th).

I will keep all interested up to date on how this pumps works out...

Isn't this the pump that Bigsaint is using? Seems he has some time on it and it is still kicking. Hopefully this pump is the answer. :)

Yep, except mine is the 4100. Only difference is the psi's. I have mine adjusted for 16 psi's pre-filter, which is good for 15 post filter.

Hey Doug, if nothing else it sure does look purty under the truck, eh ? Hopefully this is the answer, way too soon to tell. Mines been on for just over 4 months now.

Mine is mounted on the frame just below the outlet from the fuel tank. I have installed all new fuel lines and eliminated the OEM lift pump.

Doug and Scott,

Thanks for taking the time to do some R&D on this. It is nice to have guys like you on the bleeding edge.

This looks like a really well made pump. Do you know if this pump is rated to

run with diesel and will they honor the 2 year warranty????

I've got a Carter pusher pump waiting to install, but I'm on the fence about doing it if this pump is better.

Charles

Charles,

The pump is not rated for diesel but the manufactor said they would honor the warranty. I feel this says alot about the pump itself.

Forgive my intrusion on this issue, but, when installing a second pump, why not use the stocker (if it's still working) as a backup.

A small manafold along with two or three ball valves tucked up in the frame would allow for a backup pump if needed to get home. Since it seems that it's a quesion of "when" not "if", the lift pumps will fail, a redundant system would let me travel with a little less concern. That is if I had one of the electron dependant trucks.

Also, the pump is bench tested with diesel. Meaning that they run diesel through the pump when checking /adjusting the psi's before shipping. I'm not saying that they have done extensive tests with the pump running on diesel for a long time. They are quite aware of our intended use and will stand by the 2 year warranty.

The pump needs to be mounted back by the fuel tank on the frame and slightly below the tank for a good siphon feed and fighting chance.
