High performance damper

Just gotta love these last several weekends, while not exactly summer time temps, they are pretty good for the Month of November.

I had several small items to take care of with this new project. The area around the engine oil filter mount is very crowded by itself, but in the extra 1/8" NPT port next to the turbo oil feed line I had two senders mounted. One was a oil pressure sender the other a oil temperature sender. Problem was, I needed to add a oil pressure switch and there just wasn't any room. That area always bugged me any how, it just didn't look very clean and the senders barely fit. So I decided to relocate one of the original senders, the oil pressure sender and add the new oil pressure switch to that new location. I would have liked to relocate all of the senders, but the oil temperature sender would not function properly in the remote location.

I needed a mount for the senders so I used a Mr Gasket fuel log, part # 720-6151 (Jeggs) triple outlet. This gave me a solid platform to mount my senders in and keep everything neat and organized. Since I had to leave the oil temp sender back at the engine filter mount, I installed a 1/8" tee fitting and used one end for the sender and the other with a 90degree fitting and a #4 AN fitting to connect my #4 line which will connect to the new but remote mount. This did clean up that area I didn't like, and it also allowed me to get the other senders away from both the engine heat and vibration. While looking around for a spot to mount the fuel log, I found a very unexpected but great location in the AFE air filter mount. Under the air filter I mounted a wiring terminal strip, this will allow me to clean up the wiring in that area and also add or remove feature items very quickly and neat. Next came the sender mount, I located it on the side of the AFE air filter mount, it is out of the air filters way, but hidden and protected, above it i mounted the relay.

What I needed was to mount the oil pressure sender, this works in conjunction with the Auto Meter gauges installed inside the cab. The oil pressure switch, I added to make better automatic control over the on board system that already exist. It will control power to the Quick air-II compressor, in order for it to operate three conditions must be meet. One the switched 12V line needs to be on, second the engine oil pressure switch needs to see 15 psi or higher, and third the compressed air tank needs to be less then 80psi. These parameters are needed to keep the pump from cycling when the engine is off or during the start. This area is also to control the Ams oiler engine pre oiler system, which stores oil under pressure and injects it prior to start-up.

This is the AFE air filter mount without the air filter, you can see the wiring and sender mount

This is the turbo oil line feed, it is #6 line with in-line oil pressure gauge. Next to it is a #4 oil line which feeds the new mount.
