Propane Kit with a twist....

Guys, I have read a lot of the threads here on Propane injection, and from the sounds of it, it doesn't help with economy, and gives some extra power, correct?



Well, what about this idea? Install a propane injection kit, but instead of using propane, use compressed oxygen? Maybe even liquid Oxygen? In a sense, your making a "turbo" without moving parts, and on-top of that, as it is injected into the intake it will be considerably colder than the ambient air temperature. Instead of "fuel" your adding an accelerate to your diesel fuel. More air, means cleaner burn, means more efficiency correct? I couldn't find online how much it would cost to have an oxygen tank filled, but it can't be too expensive I wouldn't think. Thoughts, ideas?

Yes, i know, I am not saying you dump it in at 50psi for goodness sakes... I am talking about low PSI, no more than a Propane kit allows...

Pure oxygen and oil will ignite. People have eaten potato chips didn't wash their hands, played with low pressure breathing oxygen had Explosions. Don't play with it.

Hmmm, if pure oxygen and oil ignite on contact, would this not be a optimal idea for a completely different way too look at the way a diesel engine works? What I am thinking is this engineer a head with dual injectors, one injects the fuel first, and the follows with a quick small burst of oxygen directly injected just past tdc. Costly mod, yes, but now I am just thinking outside the box of ordinary engine mechanics...

Just to add to this thread some practical experience I had as a 14 year old, and an old flathead V/8 Ford I owned.

I was thinking about a lot of the same stuff as the prev. posters were thinking.

In my experient, I very anxiously and cautiously added pure oxygen into the carb. (with a big rosebud torch, temp. attached, and pointed into the carb. ) from a friends welding tanks.

Unfortunatly, or maybe fortunately, it made no difference at all. It didn't even increase the idle speed.

Alpha - While I applaud your creative thinking, I survived a career in the military by following cautions, such as never introducing oxygen and petroleum. Don't do it. These materials will spontaneously react. Here is a link to a safe oxygen handling brochure. Check out page four, which has a specific caution against mixing diesel and oxygen.

Really? I thought an oxy-acetylene outfit used compressed oxygen... and not compressed air? That's what we have ours filled with anyway??
