Kind of a dumb question I guess.

When I leave my trailer parked in my driveway, should I leave the propane gas on or off ? My logic is to leave it on. In that way, pressure stays up and it is less inclined to develope leaks.

My frig seems to light faster if I leave the gas on. Sometimes I leave it on, sometimes not. It's obviously safer to have it turned off.

propane on or off?

Asking an intelligent question is not being "dumb". This is a question is frequently asked. We have had four RV's in over 40 years now. Have always turned the tanks off when not being used except when camping. Lately the last few years we even have them off when traveling along the highway's as we have seen a few grim sights. A good refrigerator will keep things cool and frozen up to 8 hours if ones insulation is good and pre cooled before taking off on a trip. Most of the modern units are pretty safe. Propane off when traveling puts our minds at ease when going into fuel stops. Our last unit here is being stored in a storage yard. In the previous yard, a large motor home had a total loss as something went wrong when the unit was left on. This seldom happens, but why take even that small risk.

Happy & safe camping,

Chuck Goode
