Those of you that have been on the dyno, can you give me your procedure? And what your PowerCurve started at and ended (RPM) on the printout ?

I used two "different" procedures today dynoing, 1 with lockup 3rd gear, the other one in 2nd gear.

Highest RPM I saw was 3340 I think if I remeber correctly (I was driving). Kinda neat seeing the needle in the redzone for a change. Wheel speed up against the govorner was about 73. 5 3rd gear overdrive off with 285/7516 tires. I should have looked at the speedo and compared them dang it. Oh well...

Thanks in advance.....

SO, what kinda power did it make or is that the reason for the question, because it didn't take on the computer. Hope your not disapointed because I know it'll make BIG power!:p

No "big" power. This was a "almost" stock baseline run, they finally got the leak in the transfer case fixed (warrenty). So I went for baseline, tommorrow on goes the turbo, DDIII's, and ATS manny. Then I have a appointment to redyno next friday. All my transmission stuff is here except the convertor. Hope to have it done by thursday of next week. After I dyno the above combo I will then ad my PE COMP and anything else I can scrape up and then dyno one more time.

The reason I asked the above question is because if ya do it without lock up the numbers are lower, if you do it with lock up then the numbers are slightly higher. Also we really were only looking at the curve from about 2600 RPM to 3200 RPM, so trying to figure out how people use the Mustang dyno is all. The "stock" numbers weren't so bad, 197hp 3rd gear lockup overdrive off. I just want to know the method everyone is using so I can compare the "right set" of numbers. This run the only thing on the truck is gauges and a shift kit in the transmission as well as 4" exhuast.

"Patiently" waiting for the rest of the transmission stuff to arrive. Hope all that makes sense, just got home from work and a lil bit tired ;)

Kat, Get ahold of the edge guys they do a really good job running there Mustang dyno.

I was intending on doing that today, besides gotta give Aaron something to do ;)

The EZ I have in my posession only added roughly 20hp peak, so gonna fire an email off right now actually.

me? no, switch all stock... with shift kit installed. But on the graph its evident, the shifts and then the lockup. And didn't detect any slippage. 3rd gear locked up, overdrive off.

If you dyno run with the automatic converter unlocked, the hp readings are reduced due to torque converter fluid coupling efficiency. To get true hp, you need it locked up.

Would it be better to do it in 3rd gear lock up (overdrive off) or with overdrive on?

Only reason I am asking I want to have the "same" type of numbers for comparision sake is all.

If you use overdrive you increase load on the engine which means more boost and power. Highest power numbers are achieved in overdrive on the Dynojet. However, you can run both ways to get comparisons. The reproducibility of the Dynojet is one of its strong points. You can conduct tests weeks or months apart and see what is happening.
