Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Idle hanging up

i was driving down the highway and when i turned my headlights on the pyro stopped working. so i shut my lights back off and it worked again. when i left my headlights on the pyro gauge would work sometimes but would bounce all over the place. lights off its fine works normal. what could the problem? thanks richard

Sounds like you might have a ground problem or a wire touching something did you wire it into your fuse panel on the side . Or into the light switch ?
 
Or else there is an internal ground problem in your gauge. I would check the obvious first, like terminal connectors touching each other. I assume that you've had it hooked up for awhile and it's worked fine until now. Check for tight connections as well. Then if that's not it the gauge might be at fault.
