I picked up a bottle of Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement + Cetane Boost. Any of you guys use this stuff (not for gelling just for the cetane boost and lube) and how was it? I remember hearing good things about it.

I've been buying the 960z whit jug from wallyworld since day one.

I've switched to the silver jug when Napa had it on sale for #7. 99

for the 96oz jug. I like it better too.

But from what I've seen swapping injectors out, it looks like Stanadyne does a better job keeping the carbon build up to a minimum.

just an observation.

I use that with the PS Diesel Kleen (grey bottle) during the winter. The other seasons Kleen w/ Marvel Oil. If you don't need the gelling properties then I'd suggest using the Diesel Kleen cause it is more concentrated. The following is fron the PS website:

Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost is the premier “performance” product on the market. Diesel Kleen is loaded with cetane, detergency and lubricity additives to keep your diesel engine running at peak performance. However, Diesel Kleen does not provide any cold-weather operability benefits; Diesel Kleen is not an antigel.

If you are looking for an antigel, Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost is the product you should be using. Like Diesel Kleen, Diesel Fuel Supplement contains a cetane and detergency package. However, it is not as concentrated as Diesel Kleen to allow for the superior antigel in Diesel Fuel Supplement.

#1 Fuel

We are forced to use #1 fuel in the winter. Most stations will carry nothing else. This causes a big drop in performance and mileage. There is less lubrication in #1 also. I started using the cetane boost anti gel. I really don't need the antigel as #1 is good for pretty low temps. However, the cetane boost and lubricity is most helpful. It is more like running a #1/#2 mix. If I can find mixed fuel or even #2, running the additive still seems to help.

I was without the PS on a trip and I was convinced to buy another, more expensive additive. I can't remember the name, but I was not impressed.

I've used PS diesel fuel supplement since day one on my new truck, and many miles on the older '91. I use it purely for the added lubricant it should provide the VP-44 in my truck. According to an independent test done on a half dozen or so top diesel additives, PS diesel fuel supplement was the second best of the entire bunch in added lubricity - and only off the top brand by a cat's whisker - it's available at most Walmart stores for under $10 for a large bottle that lasts me nearly 6 months...

Cheap lubricity insurance as far as I am concerned...
