Have a 2007. 5 6. 7L Diesel 2500 RAM. I have 25K on the truck and I am on my 3rd "Power Steering Pump to Hydraboost hose". (Mopar 52122339AB). #@$%! Doesn't leak; just suddenly sounds like the fluid is swooshing through hose. Seems the plastic liner inside the hose breaks down somehow. Dealer says they don't know the root cause. Anyone else have this problem or know the cause?

Sounds like you have troubles. Is the oil abnormally hot when this happens? Factory fluid I assume? Do they have a way to check the pressure to see that it is in spec?

That is strange to have three with the same failure. At least they are smart enough to find it and not replace the hydroboost. Why not ask them is they can ask their DM or Technical guy if they can have a hose made up.

It sounds like a part assembly problem. They are cutting the liner while installing the ends. It most likely an entire run of parts from one of the suppliers.

I am assuming that this is a factory hose, not being built by the dealership??. . If its a factoy hose and its not happening with more than just your truck, I would look closer at the pump... Mainly for cavitation. Pump cavitation can ruin the best hoses and steel lines. It can do it in a relatively short amount of time.

Another thing that comes to mind is when its being installed, make sure the tech. isn't putting stresses on it by not using a backup wrench... All to often lines are just twisted up tight, which will wipe out the internal liner of the hose.

Good luck and let everybody know what they come up with. .

Not a new problem I don't think. I have read on the forums where the liner has failed and gone into the hydroboost causing it to have to be replaced. Just sounds like Chrysler needs to find a better source for the hose. bg
