Below are a few pic of my original rims off my 04 CTD. As you can see the outer rim has rust through on the outer edge, compromising the integrity, so check yours. Now a quick question please. I just picked up a set of OEM Dodge rims for a 2012 Ram, the wheel shop doing the tire mounting is telling me the original lugs are not correct for these new rims. Can you guys tell me please which lugs I should be using? Thanks.

Hmmmm. Can’t see your pictures, but I understand what’s going on, BUT are we talking SRW, or DRW?

That’s very alarming that the plastic cladding has masked a real safety concern, thanks for the heads up!
I always thought there was only one wheel nut regardless of wheel material.

I think the reason the lug nuts are different are for the center caps, but, there may be a different bevel on the cast wheels also. You probably need the lug nits for the wheels form Dodge. Not sure aftermarket has them.

I think the tire shop is trying to sell you lug nuts, I have had used steel wheel ones on aluminum and the other way around, same taper and center caps went on, no difference that I could tell.

Thinking about it more if the lug nuts did not interchange then all trucks that came with aluminum wheels would also need to come with a spare set of lug nuts for the spare, as far as I know all the spares are steel!
