I'm looking for a way to reduce EGT's and was considering the Psycotty Air system. Would like to hear comments and opinions from others on this. I'm not a big K&N filter fan, I understand there is now another make of filter which you can get with the Psycotty. The $199. 00 + $20. 00 shipping seems a bit high:confused:

I saw the new K&N system in a truck this past weekend looked pretty sweet. But I also saw the AFE system yesterday and I ordered one the filter is huge and is suposed to flow more air then the K&N, the box is metal and looks great.

I've been running a Pyscotty air system with the K+N filter in my truck for 1 year now. The oil analysis always comes back clean, the turbo blades and the IAT sensor are also clean. The egt's are low and the sound is awesome. That's my take, I like it and wouldn't switch.

Three years this coming summer with a Physcotty. It's is great for keeping down EGTs on my 3500 hauler during warmer weather, gave me one more gear on the hills. If you aren't heavily bombed or towing though you don't need one. Also what I've found with a intake temp gauge is that the intake is way to cold in winter with the Physcotty on. Been removing it in the fall now. Only other problem has been my driver complained that with the windows up at high boost the intake created a vacuum in the cab causing his ears to pop all the time. Now when it's cold enough to keep the windows up the Physcotty comes off. I have no problem with the K&N, they're great filters when serviced correctly.

While the new K&N system is sweet and so is the AFE mega cannon, if your only at 300-350HP do you really need one of these. For $150 you can get a RE-0880, a JRE heat shield and a filter sock. And for around $100 or so you could get a MoparGuy filter ( BHAF ) with a Mallory Mount, and one of those new socks someone just found.

There should be away that we can map HP or boost to the flow rate charts the filter folks publish. So a person can tell what level of filtering they need based in their level of BOMBing.

Thanks to all, wow, there are definetly some options out there. Yes I do tow and the EGT's can get pretty high pulling a steep grade with my foot in it. I estimate my HP around 275, but soon to be in the 325 range:D I want to hear more about the AFE filter system, does anyone have a link to it or the thread? Thanks

Pyscotty air system

I have been running the pyscotty air system for about a year. The main reason i did this was to lower the egt. I tow a 5ver and it did lower the egt about 150 D. good luck.

SILVER STREAK:D :D :D

I have had the Psychotty air for over a year now. Definitely lowers EGT's while towing. I am however going to change to teh AFE filter with the Psychotty set up.

does the cowl induction work with a bug shield?

My test shows no! i tied a strand of string to the vent grid by the filter hole and as i drove at any speed above 30 mph the string fluttered up the window not down into the cowl. hmmmm . just my truck? i have a bug shield.

I have had ths great air system almost since Scotty came out with it. It WORKS. The hotter your truck runs the more it helps.

I have had the "Psychotty" Air Filter on my truck

for over one year now. I really like the thing alot!

It has lowered my EGT's under ALL conditions

around 150 degrees!

As far as the K&N inside it... ... ... ... . well, I like the

K&N filters. Like "Big Saint" I have run them in

both my CTD's (92' & 96'). My 92' was traded

when it had 94,000 miles on it. No engine problems.

My 96' has close to 150,000 miles on it with

no engine problems. I also have had the oil

checked and it is always within the "normal"

readings. I see none of the "residue" on the

turbo blades other members see. I have said

it before and I will say it again, IMO alot of

the problems with the K&N's are due to

improper oiling!
