I installed my Psyscotty air intake last Christmas. How often are others doing maintenance on the element? Most of my driving is highway but I have had it off road when we did some camping in the Sierras and then there was that trip in Arizona when we went 4 wheeling up to the Anasazi ruins... I am still getting full boost pressure but I haven't looked at it since I put it in.

What exactly is a Psycotty? I have heard mention of holes in the fire wall, does it draw air from the inside? Sorry I can't answer your question, mabey I could if I knew what it was.

I have 45k/ 2 years on my Psyscotty/w 0880 K&N with no service. Boost is as high as always, 40 psi max. I have removed the intake tube at every oil change for oil filter access, tube and turbo are spotless. Oil analysis silicone levels have stayed low. This is mostly highway driving but with a one mile dusty dirt driveway. Installing a filter minder would be relatively easy, just need to take the time. I feel that I can go 100k before servicing the K&N.

I've had my Psychotty in for a year now,but I've had the 0880 filter in since Dec of 99 and it has 53k on it. I've been servicing it every 15k miles, but it's still relatively clean when I service it,so I may go with 25k cleanings.

CAnderson,

The Psychotty is a cone shaped airbox that holds a K&N RE0880 air filter. the design of this box is to suck air from the cowl where there's a high pressure of air. To install it you have to drill a big 4 1/2 inch hole in the cowl.

K&N recommends that you inspect the element on a regular basis and re oil as necessary to bring the red color back to the gauze. I pull mine once a year. In dusty conditions, this is especially important as the wicking of the oil is all that separates the dirty side of the filter from the clean side.
