pulled over for CTD sticker on windshield?

what gives, cop pulled me over and said i had 2 choices i could fess up to not having my seat belt on when he passed me (which i didn't). of get a 60 dollar fine and 1 point for having my windshield banner on the front windshield.

he was a sheriff if that means anything which i doubt. said i have until june 8th to remove it. :{



i was pulled over a few weeks ago by a state trooper and all he wanted was to talk about my truck because he had just bought one. did not say a word about the banner.

The cop was probably a Durapuke owner.



If the banner is above the two small white lines on each side of the windshield then it is legal. If so, leave it on and fight it in court when you get a ticket.

thats what i thought too. those lines are the as1 line as long as it is above that its good. well i wanted a new one anyway.

What gets me is the position of some factory rear view mirrors. They come down so far and block a lot of view. I don't have to have it in Virginia, as a truck could have a box on the back, which would prevent its use. It is required that I have the 2 side view mirrors. I have run without the one inside for almost 10 years now. I see much better.



On the same note, the state doesn't have a problem with us having a County Sticker on the windshield... which we have to pay for... . to prove that we paid our property taxes!!

So does Texas. Plus, the vehicle annual inspection sticker as well. That is what my brother told me, anyhow. That is what his were for.

I mis-read your original post and at first I thought that you said you were wearing your seatbelt and you were being wrongully charged. If you weren't wearing it, you got caught. Are you suprised? What is the fine/points for that?



Does the banner extend below the a1s line on the window? That part is a no-brainer. If its below the line, its got to go. Its probably made to fit legally, so if it is indeed too low, it was probably installed incorrectly.



What is the lesser of two evils?



In any event, I'd go to court and pay the lowest fine and no points; or better yet, (if possible) go for a Probation Before Judgement (PBJ) and walk away with minimal fine and pay court costs.

The Seatbelt Fine Is Only $25 And No Points. He Said For The Windshield Banner Would Be $60 And 1 Point. Kind Of Odd Because The Banner Is Not A Moving Violation There For No Points Can Be Applied.



Yes The Banner Was Above The As1 Line Almost 3 Inches Above It.

So I Think I Removed It For Nothing :{ Well Ill Have To Get A New One.

Cops...

One walked up to my truck the other day at a stop light and told me to slow it down, I told him I was not speeding, he saw me as I pulled up to the light, he said something to the effect "if you want to make something of this pull over there" and pointed to where his car was. My guess is my intake and exhaust made him think I was going faster than I was, it really ****** me off having to back down and say I did not want any trouble when I knew he was wrong but if you push it they will screw you over or constantly harrass you when you go through "thier" town.

I would fight the window decal charge, sounds like he was just busting em.
