Finally jumped in and bought a new to me 2011 2500 Mega Laramie, leather, navigation, sunroof... . all the goodies. It already had the camper shell, bed slide, AMP running boards and back seat video. My grand daughter loves that!

Love the way it handles, rides and tows my trailer like a dream. And with the tow/haul mode and the exhaust brake I won't need a brake job for a LONG time!

Congrats very nice truck. Not meaning to hijack but I see you have a maxbrake. Where did you mount it. a pic would be great.

TWood here ya go!

I mounted it to the left of the steering wheel under the ignition. It's out of the way, visible and easy to reach. I'm 6'2" and long legged and it's not an issue for leg/knee clearence.

I also drilled a second hole in the leg of the bracket above the factory hole to get the box closer to the panel for max clearence and you might already know the MAXBRAKE can be mounted at any angle.

Thank you very much for the pic I really appreciate it. I have been trying to figure out where to put this thing for a month now. I was just having a hard time visualizing it. Thanks again.

Happy to do it!

Have you got the wiring planned yet? There's a good post about it and how to trick the factory brake controller in to thinking all is well. HaHa I guess I'm hijacking my own posting but if I can offer any pointers let me know.

I know the post you are talking about. I have all the wiring ready to go I just need to instal the sensor and mount the controller. one question, did you have to bleed the brakes after you installed the sensor?

RMecum...

Can you direct me to the post about tricking the factory controller please? just picked up a 2012, 3500 and I am considering doing same... .

Try the factory one first. They changed them for 2012. Myself and others are okay with them. Read the instructions for going into the EVIC and setting up.

No I didn't bleed it.

I read on here where it really wasn't necessary so I didn't bleed it. There wasn't much fluid loss when it had it apart. I thought about it but after I installed it and checked for leaks I let it sit overnight. Took it for a drive the next day and did a couple hard braking stops and re-checked for leaks. It was all good so I hooked on the Airstream for a test hop and everything works perfect... man I love that MAXBRAKE!

When I put the "T" on the master cylinder I chickened out on trying to get the fitting in a perfect position. I didn't want to strip the threads so it's plenty tight but my fitting for the sensor comes off at a goofy angle. A fellow TDR member had an 18 inch hose made so he could mount the sensor in a location so it would be more secure... I think I'm going to do that too.

You might not need it.

I don't know if I did that right but it's called "Installed Max Brake" but like the others said you might not need it. I installed Max Brake for two reasons... 1) It's an awesome controller and it works better that anything on the market and 2) The factory controller did not work with the brakes on my trailer... the owners manual for my truck even said it doesn't work with electric/hydraulic brakes.

I've heard the '12's are much better.
