Competition NW PA, NE OH, Diesel Pull Rules

Competition DHRA Division 1

I'm now running are annual Truck Pull here at Lanesville and I'm trying to get an 8,000lb Open Class started. The thing I need help with is regarding safety equipment on your trucks. The Board is O. K. with the new Class but they want some safety equipment on the trucks, they want Clutch Blankets, and Air Shut Offs. What I need to know is if these things even exist for the Dodges and Fords? If they do exist how many of you guys are running the safety equipment? I'm trying to put together some #'s to take the the Board, something to show that either the equipment does exist or that it doesn't and if it does how many of you out there actually run it.

Thanks for you time and help.

Custom blankets, kill switches, drive shaft loops, steel flywheels, soon to be air shutoffs are all available at www.enterpriseengine.com

However, the above would all cost about $2000.

Our local 'Hot Stock class" is going with Blankets and loops on nonstock charger trucks.

And air shutoffs on twinned trucks.

Only a handful of 700+hp trucks had any safety stuff at all last year, over about 5 states.

The trucks that need it, will have it this year.

If you haven't made a charger change, you can still get in.

Trucks over about 500 hp may as well get use to loops and blankets, the clubs paying the insurance are not stupid, they know we have have as much or more power as the Pro Stock trucks, plates or not.

Exactly, that's the problem I'm having getting the class started. Our insurance agent is also a Heritage Board member and he knows what kind of power I'm trying to bring in. :)

It's just going to have to be that way, nothing I can do about it. It's all for the best though, I know of a few Drag racers that have lost a foot or in one case a leg to an exploding clutch. :( It's all part of a growing motor sport.

After my final meeting in April I'll post the rules, dates, and times for the pull. If you haven't ever been to the Lanesville Heritage Truck & Tractor Pull you don't know what you're missing. We have an awesome clay track that bites you right in your Rear. ;)

Just ask J. R. Adkins, he can tell you what kind of pull it is.

Don't worry you've got plenty of time to get that safety gear on, the pull isn't till September.

here's the DPO rules--just change the weight and you're set---is the insurance just for this event or more---i might be able to get a contact # for another insurance co if you want, might tick the guy off on the board though if you don't go with him--but it might give you some extra bargaining power if it works---chris

Thanks, but since he's on the Board of Directors I better no pi$$ him off just yet. ;)

I took a few of the rules and modified them a bit to fit our class of trucks. I don't want to post the final rules until they have been OK'd by the big bosses but I think the way I've got them will alow a lot of guys to still run.

I'm going to try and get enough sponsorship to up the purse from $150 1st place to $250 or $300  that should give them more insentive to install the safety equipment and come out and play. :)

DB

The tractor pullers put them in short stack situations, to keep turbo parts from exiting at high velocity.

They are totally unneeded with exhausts out the back, or stacks behind the cab, IMHO.

In case your turbo blows, it's supposed to stop debris from flying out and shooting down a star (if your exhaust is up ) or striking oil, and alerting the EPA (if your exhaust is pointing down) :D
