Buck Notes !!!
Jeff,,I have looked for my notes from the buck show with the winners names and totals and can not find them,,Seems in the after show activities I lost them so I'll try to go by the seat of my pants.....
Show & Shine-This was a bad show from the word go,,All trucks were classifiied by single or dual rear wheels so older trucks had to compete with the newest trucks,,Classes were dominated by the newer versions in all but one,and that was the Dodge dually class, only one truck competed so he was a shoe in(and I'm not saying his truck was not nice,it was very clean and lots of stainless abound),,Think there were a total of 12 trucks and no Chevy's at all... ...
Pulls-With such a low show truck count we were not counting on much with Muncie going on out west, but,it was very nice to see 38 trucks check in to pull and see the promoter show some heart by splitting the field into 2 groups of 19 and split the payout so 2 would go home with checks,,First group was a 5 truck full pull runoff with a floating finish determining the winner,,3 fords,1 Duramax and one lone TDR member(whos name escapes me and he is a non -computer member so he does not post)with a 97 green Dually set up by Autowurks was our only hope,,He got done in by the Best of show winner who got a big power burst in the middle and went out the gate a second time...
2nd round-with Howard Deshong and his runnin mate with the sliver Quad cab in the house Mitchells was also represented here,,5 go out the gate including both Deshong trucks along with a NEHOA(northest hemi owners assoc) member with the Intense Blue sport and 2 little fords,,Intense Blue truck with a small fueling box goes nearly out again at a slow pace with the Fords close behind,,Next was Deshong who destroyed the competition going out easily and probably would not have stopped but he was thirsty,,His buddy was last and nearly went out but did not make it,,This sent the rest of the field scurrying to the box crying foul play as they claimed the Deshong ride was not "street legal",,Howard had said if they would have told him up front he had to pull exhibition he would have gladly done it,but,he won and thats the end,,His truck was determined legal after he presented the tag, regristration and insurance card for it to management, even though the tag was not on mounted on the truck...
Drags-They were won by a lady shoeing a Ford auto truck,,she may not have been the fastest, but, she tree'd the rest when the flag was down,,Quite frankly someone needs to look her up for a bracket race ride as she schooled the men on how to be sent home for snoozing at the flag drop,LOL,,40 trucks all together for this one inlcuding M-D TDR member CAM who was done in by a strange miss and a bog...
Dave Mitchells pull-The crowd was silent when the feared "White Dodge" hooked to the sled and then was treated to a rare miscalculation by him in gear selection,,Way too much tire for the way too much bite created a rare bobble of the truck and Dave stopping early,,He had them back the sled up and regrouped to do it again for the frenzied crowd,,a different gear selection lead to a bunch of wheel spin and off he went smokin out the stands and moving fast,,Near the 200' mark he began hopping and lifted and when he pedaled her it went BOOM,,All thought he blew a boot off, but, alas a look revelaed a snapped u-joint and a end to his evening,,He did stay and enjoy the nite keeping us abreast on his trucks progress in Muncie and lets us all know of Gene's win there,,Even though he was rather quiet you could tell he was happy with the results from out there,,He was also helpfull in our chat with one of the Buck promoters about a possible move next year to after the Muncie show so more guys can attend both,we'll wait and see on that. .
Over all, quite a show, supermodified diesel trucks did a great show as did the street big rigs and dump trucks,,At last count in the pits there were over 50 diesel P/U in attendence, with lots of curious owners chatting about trying it next show,,I'll try to not loose my notes next time and if found I'll make sure I let put the winners up,not much of a secretary when I'm wound for sound like I was,,Oh well to windy off I go to bed... ... ...
