235/85/16 trailer tires?

New Cedar Creek today

2018 6.7 4:10's Aisin pulling 18K. What do you think the MPH on a 7% grade at 5000 feet will be? Out side temp 100 degrees

Maybe it's because I have one but I think the 4th Gen DRW's look nicer than the SRW's. Just the way the fenders flow into the bed.

I am going to be a little more conservative, Lol...7% is a serious grade with 28k GCW. "65 with ease" indicates 6th gear. I think 55 in 5th is more like it. Disclaimer: I don't have a 4th gen:)

I went up I70 through the Eishenour tunnel this summer pulling my 12,000 lbs. high profile 5th wheel. With my 3.73 I was in 4th going 65 mph floored doing about 2,220 rpm ...if I remember correctly.

What year truck?

I pulled that grade last summer (2016) my combination was close to 21K. I do have a tow tune on the truck and I was in 5th gear going between 60 and 65 MPH (my towing speed) @1900 RPM's and 30PSi boost, transmission temps were under 200F with the exhaust brake on. I have a 3:73 differential gear set with LT 285/70R/17 126R tires on the truck. The 4th gens should be able to tow up I70 through the Eisenhower Tunnel with no issues being in stock configuration.

2017 DRW with Aisin and 3.73....don't get me wrong...it pulled great. In fact I went through lots of mountains out west this summer, just locked out 6 in the hills/mountains to stop the excessive shifting. Stayed in 5th until the worst of the long grades and heat. Aisin never got over 180, I did hear the engine fan rev up pretty good :)

It AINT gonna happen! As mentioned 7% is a steep grade. Report back but I am betting 50, 55 at the most!

I hope you are getting the factory rear air ride!

I am getting factory air ride! :) The Dually only comes with the rear air bags. I'm hoping the 4:10's will make the difference on the 7% grade.

In Oct, we went over the Grapevine grossing 32,400 lbs running 50 mph. I never floor the truck and try to keep it around 2500 rpm. I have a Smarty set on level 5. Congrats on getting a new rig.

Happy Trails, Ron

You can order the 3.42's get better solo mileage and pull just as well as the 4.10's and at the weight you mention be within specs! Run the 3.42's in 5th the same rpm as 6th with the 4.10's.
