This weekend my RV dealer tried to fit a new PullRite Hitch (the type that piviots near the axle) and it would not fit properly. Dealer followed instructions and got it bolted-up, by their was interference with the differential at the hitch pivot point. During bolt-on, the interference was not evident, but during road test, I found the rear suspension bottoming on road bumps. On inspection, found that when the rear axle moves up on a road bump, it dings the pumpkin on the rear axle. This is a Dana 80 differential, and maybe pullrite checked fit with Dana 70, like the AutoTrans uses, but this set-up doesn't work. RV dealer will try to see if PullRite has a design for the Y2K 6-speed on monday. The model number of the Hitch I tried to mount is 0070 (its listed for this application). I hope I can find a solution that retains the hitch piviot near the axle, I like the concept.

Ron, I would be interested in finding out the solution. On my '78 Dodge D200 I have the 20,000# Pull-Rite that I installed myself. In this case the frame holes were drilled by yours truly thus allowing for room between the hitch and the axle.

As of writing this, my new truck is now at the dealer waiting for me to pick up at 3PM. Not 100% sure of the hitch I'll be putting on it (the old trucks have a different frame spacing than the new ones so kiss the old 20,000# rig goodbye).

The Pull-Rite works great for towing. The only thing negative about it is that you loose the spare tire or aft axle fuel tank position. Good luck and let us know!

Well ---- The word from pull rite is that the dana 80 is larger than the hitch was originally designed for. There solution is to move it back about an inch and redrill frame. I'm not going to try this. The original design used the predrilled holes for OEM hitch. There doesn't appear to be a place to put more frame holes without going into other attachment structure (more problems). Therefor, I will go back to a traditional receiver, and possibly try the Hensley Arrow device to control trailer sway. Bummer!

Ron,
Sorry to see that the Pullrite won't work with your new Ram. I was wondering about this myself, also didn't like the idea of losing the spare tire storage. I got the Hensley, and it works great for towing, once you get past the inital sticker shock for the thing. Used to use a Reese and this is much better, wouldn't tow anymore without the Hensley or the Pullrite. Good luck with your new Ram.
