Truck is a 3500 short bed, 4x4. From day one its pulled slightly to the right. I've crossed the front tires, checked the toe in (1/32 of an inch) and increased the caster as much at possible by adjusting the lower bolts.

Since this is a straight axle, you can't add caster to only one side without effecting the other side. Does anyone else's truck pull to the right? On my chevy one ton 4x4, I added one more degree positive caster to the right side, and it tracks straight as an arrow, even in the right lane where the crown is greatest.

This has been discussed a lot! Lots of complaints on the PULLS RIGHT ISSUE. Have been told with a MINOR mod that the ADJUSTABLE ball joints used on PREVIOUS year models(WAS A TSB) will allow enough adjustment. Was told some REPS at some DEALERS have approved this repair. Mine goes RIGHT also. I dropped off info to the DEALER I use and been waiting a answer for TWO months. Lots of threads on posts here on TDR regarding this.

My dealer says there is no adjustment for my truck and blames me for not rotating the tires every 3000 miles. Maybe its time to shop for a DMAX.

When I got my truck it drove straight as an arrow, no pull and the steering sheel was straight across. Then I took it in for the pinion angle adjustment and drive train realignment. When I got it back the vibration (the original complaint) at 70 mph was very slightly improved but the truck pulled hard right and the wheel was off to the left. Back to the dealer. Front end alignment. Pull is gone, wheel slight right, vibration back with a vengeance. I think, (imho as a former ASE Master) that they have really got something screwed up in this design. How can we expect the tech to work the kinks oout of a defective design. Now DC is forcing gthe techs and service mgrs to become engineers. Time for me to start the buy back procedure. :-{}

Swift Dodge in Sacramento CA has the fix for that on the 3rd gens and is getting it done under warranty. If your not near there maybe a call to their service dept will shed some light on the procedure & parts for your local dealer.

Its for ADJUSTABLE ball joints on earlier models,like 2000 through 02. Service writer I deal with was aware of it. Its a D. C. part. Requires a rubber cup to make it work with 03 and up. A few posted a while back that the Rep in their area approved the repair. I took ALL the posts about this to the dealer I deal with WHO have done nothing about asking their rep as I requested. I told them last trip in that they can KEEP putting it on the back burner BUT I won't and sooner or later I'll start making phone calls and stirring the pot up. Its their choice!
