Whats a average price to have a pump balanced/calibrated and reinstalled?

Local shop quoted $500 total, seems fair but I've never had it done before.

Have what sounds like a miss out the exhaust that is obnoxious when under load over 1800rpm. Gets more prominent with larger exhaust housings, put on a 18. 5housing today and it just sounds ragged.

Zach,

That does sound about right. Had mine done at Wentland Diesel up in Milton Freewater (N. of Pendleton) a few years ago and it was similar to that price. But you can save a bunch if you R & R the pump yourself. They really aren't that hard to do especially if you have a second set of hands (they are heavy!). Just get your engine set to TDC before you pull it. The shop will generally pin the pump for TDC when they give it back to you. But you'll probably want to reset the timing after its back in anyway.

Jay thanks for the reply.

You're probably right about the R&R but honestly I'm just tired of turning wrenches on it. Just want to drop it off and pick it up. And when its done it better idle smooth, and sound smooth as a 24valve under load. #@$%! :-laf

See if you can get them to bump up the output of each barrel to their reasonable max yet still keep them in balance. If your pump is like mine, they can do that. It isn't a lot, but every little bit helps.

I understand your burn-out issue. I feel that way too from time to time.
