I have been told by a number of people that under optimum conditions it is possible to extract about 1. 7 hp per cc of fuel. I am curious to see what the real world number is. I have seen 460hp out of 440cc and 560hp out of 550cc. Is 1. 5 hp+ per cc of fuel just a possibility, or is it something that is commonly done.

Ron here is an example, 325 cc's in valet makes 550 hp with Twins, now granted that is a perfect world... ... little fuel lots of air.

Jim.

I looked into this alot yesterday. I was given several examples similar to yours. Looks like the new pump numbers should be more than what I actually need. It will be interesting to see what the old one is putting out set up just the way it is.

I have never had mine on a flow bench to check it but with a few tweaks here and there i managed 585 on a non loaded dyno.

Pump numbers are kinda funny to me... Seems like there are a few ways to come up with a number and every shop does things a little differently.

One shop may claim 800cc's/1000 strokes... while another claims just plain old "800cc's".

The testing variables are numerous and are often not disclosed in conjunction with the flow numbers...

I must live in a perfect world then. :-laf Riddle me this with my VE pump with lets say 200cc's of fuel is making 439hp that equals out to be 2. 19hp per cc of fuel. I am saying 200cc's, but I think I am under that. I will check this when I take my pump off this week and put it on a flow bench.

Sorry to hijack your thread Ron. I was just curious about what they think about the VE pumps also.

I will be putting together a highly modified VE pump this week and I will get the flow numbers for it as well. I will also be dynoing again here in a couple of weeks and post the results. CC'S vs HP.
