My wife got in her truck this morning to find out it would not start. When I got home from work I went through the prime process (ran the Air Dog for a sec. and started it wide open) and it started after a few cranks and ran fine. I let it run for 5-7min and cracked the vent on the stock fuel filter housing and did not seem to be any air so I thought she just ran it to low on fuel (tank was really low).

I just went out to start it up and check it again and it did the exact same thing. The Air Dog seems to be fine, good fuel pressure. Doesn't seem to be any leeks anywhere in the fuel system and the Air DOg holds pressure for 20-30 sec. after shut down.

What might be the problem?

Thanks for all the great help everyone supplies!!!

Check for codes.

Cycle the key on to off 3 times ending in the on position. Record everything the odometer says until it reads the milage. Do not touch anything, start the truck or go to the start position.

Get back to us with the codes.

need 2 people , have 1 turn key to start possition and watch the linkage at fuel shutoff solinoid does it lift up , then key to start pos. does it lift up . if no in both cases then it could be either the relay or solinoid check for power at both , the differant yrs. & models did differant movements at diff. sw. pos. but at some point they all move the linkage at least when the key is in start pos. , the relay is the cheapest and easyest, some times you can take the cover off and file the points , but if the relay is energizing the solinoid then you might have to replace it [ if no movement]

Sure sounds like your sucking air in some where. Have you replaced any of the factory fuel line's and or fittings? Did you remove the stock fuel filter when you installed the Air Dog? Not always does a leak show up as in a wet spot. The leak could be a sucking in leak (very small) which would mean air and explain hard starting and the restarting being easy for awhile after getting it running, and also the fuel pressure holding for 20-30 seconds after shut down then bleeding off.

Thanks for the help guys. I found the problem. It was a little pin hole in the fuel pressure gage hose that runs from the VP to the isolator (hard to see the hose where I have it mounted). Put a pice of new hose on tonight and im gonna try and find a new spot for the isolator this weekend.

Thanks again
