Here is some good info you should read.

I would just rotate your stock pin to the steepest side first and try that before you grind anything, and then turn your fuel screw in a couple turns. I'd also advance your timing to 16-17*.

A couple of things you need to remember when adjusting the pump:

*There is such a thing as too much bottom end fuel. Don't go crazy with the starwheel! If you give your truck lots of fuel on the bottom you will "overfuel" and cause more lag. Only add fuel where you need it, and just enough to get what you want. You will spend considerable time tuning to get proper fuel curves and egt's.

*Turning up the pump will degrade it's lifespan a little.

*Be carefull when pushing fueling to it's limits. A pump with a fuel screw turned way in may want to "run away". When making pump adjustments, keep a board around to cover the front of your turbo to kill the engine in the event of a runaway.

Others will probably add more.

The control cone profile is pointed front. There is the cone w/rubber diaphram, the spring and the nylon washer. Providing you haven't gutted the afc. The star wheel isn't generally removed so it aint going no wheres. The top cover has to have the air port towards the back, again providing it's still used... ... ... .....

When you remove the cone, and look down inside the shaft it was sitting, you will see a pin. It's on the side closest the radiator. It extenends and retracts following the curve of the fuel pin.

So if you put the steepest side pointing forward as compared to the truck, then you will be using that side.
