I have the pumps from 3 engines

1 1997 manual trans federal pump

2 1996 auto california pump

3 1995 manual california pump

Can anyone tell me the differences in these pumps?

Thanks, Rod:confused:

Now I'll say but I won't swear to it.

#1 215hp pump

#2 180hp pump

#3 160hp pump

I'm sure someone can tell you exactly the differences but I'm not that one.

the last pump (95 manual) should be a 175 pump. the 175 is the least agressive pump. The 180 is a good pump and has the same cam as the 215 pump has. All the pumps listed have 12mm barrels and plungers. The 215 has a double helix plunger that has more advance built into it and has the abilty to make more HP.

I should have been more specific. I knew the HP ratings what I was really interested in was the mechanical differences. Would one get 215 HP by putting the 97 pump on the 95 engine?

Thanks, Rod

kid fan, DD mentioned that it was off a manual trans. The 160 came on 94 and 95 autos. The 160 pump in 94 and 95 autos is a p-pump and the 160 pumps before 94 are VE pumps. If u want 215 HP on a 95, u have to add the pump and 215 injectors. U can get way over 215 hp without injectors, but with stock plate in the stock position u need the 215 injectors. The 215 are about a 15-20 HP increase over 180 injectors. Not sure what the difference is between 180 injectors and 160's

i really don't know much about the 175 pumps, but i do know that the 160 have heavy gov weights and that it has a real poor cam. There's isn't enough "fill time" built into the 160 cam in the 160 pump. Sorry kidfan, yes u are right the 160's come in 94 and 95 autos and the 175 in 94 and 95 manual shifts.

Demon dodge you can just send that 215 pump down here to Texas and I will tell you how much power you can get out of it.

215 injectors if your gonna spend the money to get new injectors 370's are the way to go. :D
