Hey Guys I was going to advance the timing in a friends 93. I think I loosened everything that mounts the pump and I can't get it to budge at all. I didn't have a crows foot to loosen the injection lines. Do I need to loosen them to turn the pump, is there any thing else the holds that thing? I your guys minds where is the best place to go for 1st gen hop-up parts? Every one has everything for 94 and up.

Are you sure you loosened everything? 3 bolts to timing cover, 1- 10mm bolt at rear bottom of pump? I just did mine yesterday, used a regular 17mm wrench on the lines, but had to be creative, one I went straight on from the end ;) I had to use a bar up from the vacuum pump mounting bolt with a wooden block against the AFC housing. It moved pretty hard, but I got it. Noticable difference in performance. :D PDR for go fast stuff, good people to deal with, I talked to (Nascar Mark) Wilson. He helped me out.

Even with the nuts/bolt loosened off the pump is booger to move... even when it does it'll want to move back... you got two choices...

1- You can loosen all the nuts/bolt off then re-snug the center nut... use a rubber mallet to whack the sucker at the pump/diaphram joint till it moves upward... if it springs back down, then snug up the nut a bit more and repeat...

2- You can use a small tugger strap... run it so that no rocker covers/fuel lines etc are pinched and attach the hook end over the AFC housing and hook it on the body... then ratchet it snug till it moves the pump upward the desired amount... both will work and should be safe. .
