It's not. You need a dial indicator to do it right, but I have netted good results w/out one. A Snap-on wrench SP144 will make it extra easy, along with a large set of channel lock pliers to pull the top of the pump over to the head. All them fuel lines attached makes it tough to move!

Any questions? Now, get out there and make us proud!!!!

By the way, I'll be in Florida this summer. We'll get together and have a bomb-fest!!

Sounds good I will give it a try. Here is a picture of the setting now. How much should I turn clockwise? should I listen for any change in sound that would indicate advancing too far? Have a set of 50hp injectors that I will be putting in soon after I have them checked over, I think that the stock injectors are still in there. They still have black paint on them that matches the engine, hard to imagine after 272,000 miles.

Yep, probably stock units.

You would notice a change in the "Knock" if you go far enough. Read that too far. It will become more pronounced. there is a fine line there. If you move it some by site-ing the line, go somewhere like 1/8th inch. You probably will not notice much change in sound once you'r there. You'r new performance injectors will "require" you to advance the timing to net proper performance from them.

Keep us posted!

JSchlatchta,

With your stock timing on a 92, I'd agree with the 1/8" rule. If it starts to rattle under acceleration, you know you've gone too far, but i doubt you will. If you can get a finger between the AFC housing and the head, you havent gone too far. It may or may not increase idle a bit- depends on injector pop pressure and pump settings. My 91 didnt require near 1/8" to get to 1. 7mm; more like 1/16" from stock. But I'm also . 15mm ahead of you to begin with. Throw in high altitude adjustments, and who knows where I had been.

Also, if you have a 1/2" (13mm?- mine is a 1/2" and fits tight) crow's foot, it works just as well on a 3" extension for that nut under the body of the pump. And you dont have to flag down a SnapOn guy, either. sounds like the bug has bit you too. Dang, it is spreading faster than the flu.

Huh Hummm............

JSchlatchta,

Greetings... .

At this point, there are several different avenues of which I can take here... ... ...

Just to show you what kind of guy I REALLY am, I will not respond to the former post. I'm simply above that... ... ...

Be it jealousy from out-of-staters, or "what have you", my lack of retaliation will only serve to further my point.

If you need any help what-so-ever, please feel to post..... night or day.

Just between you and I... ... ... . I'm thinking that the person who ... ... FORMERLY... ... held a membership with this fine organization, has spent too much time in the garage,,,,,,,,,,,,tuning his CTD,,,,,,,,,with the garage doors closed... ... ... ... ... ... if you know what I'm get'n at here.

East Coast,

:p :p
