Ordered a bunch of stuff from Genos(gauges, big line kit, belts hoses etc). it does have some play in the steering so im hoping the steering brace will help. also dont want to drive it too much until i install the fuel pressure gauge. truck shifts real good so im not sure if i should mess with changing the fluid(cant find the pennzoil synchromesh in town) the P. O. never towed with it.

Questions:

1. Do the headlight switches get hot in these trucks only when you are towing or is it the trucks lights alone?

2. Has anyone installed a B&W hitch in there truck? how would you rate the install? (time & difficulty)

Thanks for your time, Brian

You can usually find Pennzoil Synchromesh Transmission fluid at Autozone stores.

The headlight switch got hot when tow+ing in my '01 but I don't think it got hot when not towing.

A B&W hitch is a good product and many will jump to defend it but, IMO, it's not worth the additional price over a Reese. Some of the posts I've read by owners of the B&W indicate it's a lot of trouble to remove and reinstall although that is its theoretical advantage.

Headlight switch gets warm all the time. This can be reduced somewhat by running with the dash lights on bright.

If you tow alot, carry an extra backup light switch. I have had mine go out twice and my trailer has backup lights that I do appreciate when they work.

Fuel pressure guage is very important. I am on my 3rd lift pump at 72K and it is getting weaker. I will not go back to the stock pump. I have already relocated it on the frame rail.

BTW do some searches here and you will find that overfilling the trans is recommended. I have the old Fast Coolers on mine and 8 quarts of Redline MTL in it and it seems to be doing quite well.

Good luck with the new truck.

Thanks for the info. my parts from genos garage are out for delivery today so im hopin to get the gauges & relocation kit installed. is the FASS stock replacement pump any good? i dont plan on any power upgrades until i tow with it & see how the truck does.

b&w is the way to go!!! its super easy to install and its a better deisign than the reese!!!!

one word of advise--- GET A SMARTY!!!!!!!!
