can't get it running due to no fuel(air in the lines) or pusher not running(electrical)??

if it's air ? did you bump the starter and let the lift pump go through it's cycle a few times?

Or the oposite end of the spectrum.

I think Steve St. Laurant had to put a switch on his pusher to not have "too" much fuel pressure at start up. I guess it kind of "floods" the engine (that sounds too wierd-but I guess it has a lot of truth to it).

I didn't have to add a switch, if I try to crank the truck while the lift pumps are running it takes a few more revs to start but that's it. Eric - do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If so, are you getting fuel pressure and what pressure are you getting? Did you bump the starter to put the pumps into their priming cycle? There's a lot of air in the system when you install a pusher pump because the fuel lines as well as the pump are filled with air. You may have gotten air into the injector lines and have the injectors air bound. If you are getting fuel pressure then you may need to bleed the high pressure fuel lines.

Push pump

Thanx to DAWG1 he was able to find what was wrong. I'd wired the push pump up wrong so it took fuel out of system. It works now and I need to work at getting fuel gauge in the rest of the way(just need to wire it up) Thanks Eric

I got a guestion related to this sorta!! When I turn key on pump starts pressure goes to 15 PSI. When pump stops as it should pressure goes to zero. Is this okay? What does everybody elses do stock pump do?

mine drops down alot also--guage display needs to be replaced so I don't know to what but it's below 5psi that's for sure and I think it goes to 1-2psi and 0psi if I'm not quick with the the start--I think it's normal... ... chris

Normal

When you key on but do not bump the starter the ecm sends a short ( maybe 1-2 seconds max. ) surge of juice to the lift pump. I typically see the pre-filter gauge rise up to about 9 psi's then fall to 0 as the pump is off. My SPA (post filter) rises to 1-2 psi's at key on and then falls back to zero. This is normal unless you have bypassed the ecm wire that powers the lift pump. I don't have the Carter pump anymore but I used the ecm wire as my trigger for the relay to the Mallory, works great.
