Possible donor for conversion

I'm trying to find the engine and transmission for a pusher bus for a conversion for a friend.

They have a Ford 460 in it now and want a 6bt/allison if possible.

Any ideas on a source???

Mark, Is this a conversion similar to what I'm under taking? Putting a rear engine and transmission into a front engine Motorhome? I'm thinking they didn't make any pusher gas motored motorhome.

Pass my # along to him if he wants to compare notes.

I've postponed the swap for a month so I can go to Moab and crawl a few rocks. This will give me some time to manufacture the motor mount brackets to perfection. My motor is getting a new throttle plate put in it this week and then we'll fire it up on the stand to hear it run.

Should be running the highway by Summer. Crossed fingers.

It's supposed to be a pusher with a gas engine. I dunno much about it. Just tryin to help him source a motor and transmission.

It's for a customer of Kurts. I'm just helping him out in my spare time. I surf a lot, so finding useful info is a change for the better;):D

Thanks,

Mark

I've been flirting with the idea of a conversion bus lately so Ive found a few sites on the subject. Sounds like the setup out of a schoolbus may work. Try this link there may be some info there

pusher gas engine motorhomes

CJohnson... . yep pushers with gas engines were made. not very successful. hard to keep cool. i know Foretravel made some with Ferd 460's, and some other co's too, i think. engine longevity was a big problem.

Longevity is a problem for front gas engiine too! I have 75, 000 miles on my Ford 460 and it's wore out. Well, not exackly, but it's very tired. Won't hardly do mountains. It's scary trying to get up Eiesenhower Pass in Colorado. It's 1st gear and foot on the floor to get over it. I didn't make it the last time I tried.

As Tim Allen says, "It's Needs MORE Power" ARGH, ARGH. :)

SO we're starting with 250 HP and see how it does. If this works out like I think it will, I'll own this thing for a loooooong time.

keeping cool is this guy's problem. evidently he's melting parts on the exhaust and overheating while towing. It's awonder it runs at all.

I thought that your running a ISB did you get them to put a diff pump on it?

So lets have some details of the pump swap! What cam did you use for the conversion? how did you make the injector lines? and did you keep them all the same length? Also what else was needed for the conversion? PICTURES please!
