I'm looking at installing a carter 4600 pusher pump and after reading over all the posts I could find still have a few questions. I need 3/8 rubber fuel line right? How did you guys attach to the stock steel line so it didn't leak? Do I need different fittings then supplied with the 4600 to connect the rubber line to the pump? Where at is the best place to tap into the stock fuel lines/mount the pump? The feed line is on the bottom right?

What color is the wire which I need to tap into on the stock pump?

I hate to make another post about pusher pumps but I need to get this figured out soon so I can the supplies I need to install the pump.

Thanks,

Matt

3/8 fits nicely onto the stock steel line. The steel line transitions to a rubber covered plastic line approximately 2ft back from the stock LP. Simple hose clamps to secure.

I'm not quite sure what fitting are supplied with your psuher, so it is hard to answer, basically a you will need 3/8 fitings on both sides of the pusher and replace the "IN" banjo on the stock LP with a similar 3/8 hose fitting.

From what I have read most who choose to use a pusher, also use a relay to supply power to the pusher. Good luck

I just did mine and used a 4600. The suppled fittings that I got were 1/2 inch so they need to be replaced with 3/8. I came just forward of the fuel tank and cut out about 8 inches of the supply line, drilled the frame slightly smaller than the provided self tapping bolts and hooked it up. I did not run 3/8 line all the way to the LP, just tied back i to the hard stock line. I didn't use the LP circuit to power my relay instead wired the pusher to a toggle switch and turn it off when I leave the truck parked. Hopefully if it is stolen I will be able to find it because as soon as the VP empties the FF housing it dies as the LP cannot pull fuel through the pusher pump. Also remember to double hose clamp the rubber line at it's connection to the hard line.

Good luck.

Double clamps on the factory steel line should be fine. However, if you have a flairing tool, you can add a SLIGHT flair to the lines to make sure the hose can not slip off the metal tube. DO NOT get carried away with the flair! This is a case of a little being better than a lot!
