Stereotype.....Beetle owners please don't get offended

Does anybody have an opinion on the stereotype that if a male owns a VW Beetle he's Gay.



I was pondering getting one a few years ago, but after I read this over and over I passed. Being 43 and never been married & single did not help.

Yep. . that's an absolute fact... all males with a VW Beetle are fags.

But. . then you got this:

So I think you're covered!

Go get the Beetle if you want it. Nobody with a brain will really care what you're driving. I haven't had any funny looks yet while driving my our Jetta. But, if I do, I'll just drop a gear and leave 'em behind. The car is quick!

Then there's the whole 50+ mpg thing... ... .

Attitude???? Don't know what that's all about. We've owned a Jetta for three years and I love the car. What do you want me to say?

I would recommend the Jetta to anyone. All vehicles have their quirks and VW isn't any different but this is just a great little car in my opinion.

After re-reading my above post... ... I realize that I may have come across as rude.....



I apologize for that.....



The fact of the matter is that I have seen (worked on cars) people that delayed their timing belt changes and regular maintenance. It can get really ugly and really expensive in a hurry.



I am by no means bashing VW. I love the damn things. I have owned them in TDI form for years now and have put literally hundreds of thousands of miles on them.



I just would hate to see anyone learn what I learned the way I learned it (the hard way) in regards to these cars. If you have the right tools and know the right people... . Owning these cars is a joy. Take them to the wrong people and get advice from people not familiar with the systems of the TDI and you will pay the price.



Oh yea.....



Buy a VagCom... . The "key com" is fine for basic users.

We have two (see my sig) and really like them. I like driving the Beetle but most of the it's the Jetta... I need the 4 doors for the customers.



Our Beetle has 139K miles and the MAP sensor just died. Still running but low on power and will be an easy fix.

Just fueled up for the first time, don't know what kind of mileage I got, I don't know if the tank was clear full when I bought it. Even though the manual says not to, I used a big rig nozzle because it is all they had. I just took it slow and had no problems. It's good to know I can do that if I have to. I think it's funny to pull up next to the big rigs with a little beetle and fill it with one of those huge nozzles. My uncle had an 88 ford diesel that there was only a few places he could fuel up at. No way he could use a big rig nozzle. I remember reading an article about that in the TDR. It said: for fun watch a brand F try to use a big nozzle.



So far, we love this car! I have never seen my wife so excited about an automobile! Plenty of power, handles great, comfortable, and can handle high speeds with ease.



I have joined the TDI club and that has changed my break in methods to be more agressive to help seat the rings, sounds like the right thing to do, I hope so!
