Put the big A/T's on and ran a 1500 mile round trip this past weekend. Very impressed. While the tires make a bit of road noise it is very low considering the tire style.

Offsetting that is the lower engine RPM. At 75 MPH I was turning 2100 RPM. The engine really likes that RPM, and the grunt up the hills is terrific. Running through the Siskyou Mountains at 70 MPH and a big crate in the back I felt like I was running on rails. Seemed like I could sweep the turns at 80 MPH if I wanted to.

Stopping the big meat requires a little more brake presssure.

Everyone likes the looks. The young girls at the drive through kept looking at the truck and saying how big and cool it looked.

Yep, these are the ticket.

No lift required. Lock to lock no problem. The front end is a bit lower than the back, but I don't want to mess with it because when the fifth wheel on the rig is nice and level.

Pictures are on the way. Got to charge the camera.

How did you recalibrate the speedo? I understand that the factory program won't do 315's.

Calculations can be done at: http://www.4lo.com/

ex. If you went from 265's to 315's and 75mph is correct for the 265's--then you're doing 82mph on 315's at the same RPM.

[edit] okay I see that you've changed FD ratios, maybe you know this stuff already. Some folks don't seem to understand it. 75 @ 2100 is about what my 3. 54x265 setup turns--so now you're back to where you were before changing rear ends. :p

Actually 2100 at 75 MPH is per GPS road speed. Perhaps my Tach is off, because the other variables, final gear ratio(. 73), rear end gear ratio(3. 73), and tire size(315-70-17) are a known value.

I do know that the truck and my ears really like this new set up.

Oh, I saw 4. 10 in your sig and thought that was your FD.

Oh no the tach is right--That first mark past 2000 is 2125! Stoopid Mopar-doh

Glad you like it. Have you spun those bad boys yet? I love the deep growl that truck tires make when you burn them. As opposed to the high-pitched squeal of the you-know-whats.

Trying to get an image that will ft. The image size allowed is so small I'm having trouble. Managed to get the file size below 32KB, but now the message says the image needs to be smaller that 400X400 pixels. Trying to figure out how to do that.

image file manager.

Download IrfanView. http://www.irfanview.com/ It's absolutely free for non-commercial use and has no banners or popups or registration request.

Its a full featured image file manager. It's real easy to get a file down to "TDR" size with it.

It handles just about every image/movie file you can imagine. Does slideshows and everything.

Jim, what kind of clearance does your fifth wheel have at the bed rails with tires that big? I'm in need of new tires but had decided to go with stock for fear it would be too high when I get a fiver. I know you can raise the fiver some and adjust the pin and hitch, but mine's high enough now I'd be worried about the required clearance.

Yeah, they can be a pain.

Once you get the file opened in irfanview, click on "image" then slide down to "resize/resample" and play with those options.

PM me and I'll try to help more if needed.

I haven't had the fifth wheel attached yet. I'm lucky because before the new tires I had so much clearance I could off road without concern. I don't think clearance will be a problem for me.

A bigger problem will be getting the fiver in/out of my hanger. With my '99 and 16" rubber and truck/trailer tires aired down to 20 PSI I only cleared the door opening by 1". Guess I'll have to use the'99 when I park it there.
