Putco / DeeZee

Have a 04, 2500, quad, short box and want to add running boards. Like the look of DeeZee Elite and or Putco Master Boss. Both of those web sites are at best vague. Does either fit the 04. If so does the application allow for the box set. Or just to rear of cab. Looks like the box set at Putco is only for the dually. Any of you guys using these?

If they can fit the 1500's from 02 on up, then they should fit the HD's as well.

i am in exactly the same place as you. and i am looking at the same boards. i figured i will have to hit the local "dress-up" shops to see what these boards look like.

the one thing that still confuses me is that the prices for the box extension boards appear to cost almost as much as the cab boards. have you noticed this, or am i look at the pricing wrong?



be interested to know what you decide.

Jim, yes, the extensions for the box seem out of kilter, price wise. Seems like this should be a simple task, finding running boards for our trucks. I like the looks of a good nerf bar step but this truck will see some not so clean roads during its life with us and a bar doesn’t protect the truck from mud and rock chips tike a good set of boards:{ . I’m looking for something with mud flaps at the ends. Let me know if you find something, I’ll do the same.

I installed the Putco Boss running boards on my ‘98 when I bought it new. They have held up well in the sand and salt barrage we get here in the northeast winters. Here is a picture of them on my 2500 with the expensive bed extensions.

ok so this is what i like so far. the putco boss series - 3 different styles. the dee zee elite series also. looks like putco will cost more but they have lifetime warranty, where as dee zee has 1 year.

found a couple of places to compare.

still not sure which but the lifetime warranty is worth an additional amount especially in this part of the country.

Jim, I’ve been at both those sites too. The Putco site doesn’t show an application for the Dodge beyond the 02 year and the site with Elite Deezee fails to mention Dodge at all. Have you noticed this?



The Putco sure look good on Dave’s 98!

I have the Dee Zee Guradians on my truck. I painted the plastic trim to match. Very happy with them so far, but the front flaps are a little narrow, so I got a pair of the Mopar non-molded splash guards and trimmed them to fit and give an extra 1-2 inches of width.

Update: decided to save some bucks from the stainless designs and went with the Deflect a Shield Extruded. Put em on yesterday. Full set, cab and box. Am really quit pleased, they seem well designed. First set I’ve installed. Spent 4 hrs + on the first side, second side went on in about an hour and a half. Spent some time on the first side making sure of alignment, etc. before putting holes in Mama’s new truck.



Just for your info, this set was still tagged to fit an 02 but it works on an 04 perfect. Post a pic later if anyone interested, truck needs cleaned up first, dirty, been below 0 here, too cold to wash her right now! Next up: grill guard.
