putting a nv5600 in a 92 3500 daully

I am getting ready to put a nv 5600 in a 92 3500 dually , with a 205 t-case. It had a getrag 5 speed in it . Have any of you guys done this upgrade?

If so, any info , you can help me with would be great... .

The new trans is from a 99 3500 and it has the smaller imput shaft, that I will up grade to a newer 1 3/8 imput shaft. . But I am not sure yet what to do with the coupler to the t-case...

I htink that you have to trade your bell housing for a re worked one that has the right bolt patern for the newventure trans. There is a company somewhere that does this and makes the trades. If you read the sigs of other members you will see some of them have made the switch you can pm them. When CBparker reads about your 6 speed he will be jelous enough to cry. I don't know about the transfercase.

replace getrag with 5600

It has been done and there are pictures. I don't remember the thread. Do a search.



The bell houseing is different. Maybe you got that with the transmission. The stick is in a different location. Yoke and drive line changes are required. Most people changing to the 4500 also change the clutch. If you have not increase HP I think the sachs clutch would be fine. And isn't the input shaft bearing in the flywheel different? Hopefully the one who did the conversion will see your question and make some comment or list the required items. It would have to be a good setup with the extra gearing.

Marty1 did this swap in a W350. Read his threads on this subject very good material. Remember reading you wouldnt have to change clutch with the 99 smaller input shaft. Will have to if you upgrade to the 1 3/8" shaft. Bill

I am SOOOO jealous of you guys... . I'm pulling around a 14000 lb machine on a trailer and i wanna put in the 5600 too ... . hmm wonder how long it'll be before i torch the Getrag... .
